LETTER FROM YOUR PRESIDENT

Hello James Madison High School Key Club, My name is Michelle Chen and I am your president for the 2012-2013 service year. It is a pleasure to serve this club because I will have the ability to bring an on-going chance to our home, school, and community by providing walks and events that can help benefit our society and the world we live in. As conducted in my previous meetings, we have been going to many events throughout the term and I hope you guys will en-joy your key club experience because when you finish high school, I am sure that you will miss all the memories you faced as a high school student as well as a key club member during your high school life. Key Club is not just an organization filled with serving our community. We are a family, a big, big family filled with happiness, love and care. We respect everyone because we, individually, want people to respect us. As I first walked into Key Club’s meeting room, I looked around the room and thought to myself, why am I here? What is the purpose of this club? As time progressed, I learned that we are a big family and what we do is serve. As time progressed, I thought to myself, hmm.. Maybe I should run for president and make this Key Club organization a greater organization as well as a bigger family filled with many respected individuals. Now, I am here serving your home, school, and community. I hope you can work with me because together, we can make a difference! BREAST CANCER WALK

BREAST CANCER WALK SPOTLIGHT

Breast Cancer Walk On a cool Saturday morning, James Madison Key Club members all gathered in the Central Park and awaited the start of the Breast Cancer Walk. As the pink ribbon broke, many pink jackets and pants rolled through. There was a unified spirit about the walk as everyone was motivated to bring a change to Breast Cancer. Breast Cancer affects one in eight women and results in death in approximately 40,000 women in America. This walk pro-vided a direct opportunity to change the way Breast Cancer is perceived by making an effort to eliminate as the more people walked; more people went to donations for researching Breast Cancer. As we walked, we also noticed past survivors. That in-creased our drive for walking the five miles. I was proud of all the Key Club Members' efforts to make a change in their commu-nity. Furthermore, I would like to encourage everyone to partici-pate in more walks and directly make a change in their commu-nities and make a smile on survivors' faces. -Written by our vice president, Azka Javaid
