Whether honesty really is the best policy will be examined at Lifetree Café on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 7-8 pm.
This program features conversations surrounding whether telling the truth is best in all circumstances.
“There are times it’s obvious you should tell the truth,” said Lifetree Café national direc-tor, Craig Cable. “But in other situations, there seems to be some gray area. In this Life-tree program, participants will discuss when confessing the truth is best, and when it might not be—especially in relationships.”
During the program, Lifetree participants will be given the opportunity to share experi-ences of when honesty, or a lack of it, has impacted their lives.
Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Lifetree Café is located in The Bachwell Center for Music and Dance at 116 N. Washington Street, Van Wert, Ohio 45891. Please enter the handicap accessible entrance on Court Street. Park-ing is available in the courthouse lots.

WEST OHIO CONNECTION AND BEYOND A sobering reminder of the cost of hatred Message from Bishop Palmer Like all of you I awakened on Sunday morning June 12 to the tragic, devastating, jaw-dropping reports of yet another mass shooting. This time the worst one in recent American history. But this is not a competition or race that is worth winning. READ MORE http://www.westohioumc.org/conference/blog/sobering-reminder-cost-hatred.

One Sunday during worship, you notice a visitor who looks vaguely familiar. Sud-denly the pastor invites her forward to address the congregation. Now you remem-
ber. She is your District Superintendent. Oh no! Why is she here?
A numbness overcomes you as you hear the words. Your pastor is leaving. In several weeks, he will move to a new church. The DS then promises to return soon to introduce you to your new pastor. United Methodist churches repeat this scene whenever elders are appointed to new churches.

Father’s Day has Methodist ties By Joey Butler*
Editor's Note: This story was originally published in 2010, the year often referenced as
the centennial of the first celebration of Father's Day. Information regarding the centen-
nial has been updated to reflect this.
To all you dads out there: While you're relaxing in your recliner and watching sports
on June 21, and your kids are on their best behavior to honor Father's Day, don't for-
get to thank a United Methodist.
That's right. Not one, but two United Methodist churches with the same name, oddly
enough can lay claim to originating the celebration of all things paternal.
