RESPONSIBILITY for our actions. HONESTY in our interaction with others. COMMITMENT to achieve our best in all we do. TELEPHONE NUMBERS 2013 TERM DATES FROM THE PRINCIPAL Dear Parents What a busy term for the School! Apart from the all-important academic programme, we have enjoyed key events such as Founders' Day, Parent - Teacher evenings, House Days, Book Week, the Drama Production, the PYP Exhibition, the Art Exhibition, the ASC Piano Competition, Learning Journeys, Primary Discos, Year 11 Dinner Dance, Cross-Country and Athletics Carnivals. Thank you for your support, it means a lot to your children and the staff. Much has been accomplished this term. THANK YOU TO THE P&F Our P&F Committee led by President Mrs Del Nash continues to make a strong contribution to our school community. Funds collected from the P&F Levy this year have now been allocated. The Committee is always mindful of allocating funds to items requested by staff that benefit the broad range of students across the ELC, Primary and Secondary years. A special pastoral initiative funded this term was the speaker Amy Coombe who addressed female students, all staff and interested parents on a range of issues concerning teenage girls. Speaking from her personal experience, Ms Coombe was well-received. The students, in particular, found her informative and reassuring. Thank you to all parents who have paid their P&F Levy. It is an important resource directed to areas of need in the School and is much appreciated. STAFF MATTERS We thank Mrs Lisa Bissell (Food and Textiles) who completes her contract this term and wish Mrs Betty Devenish (Education Assistant) a well-deserved and relaxing period of Long Service Leave for Term 4. Our good wishes are also extended to Mrs Heidi Crawford (Primary Japanese) and Mrs Amanda Whiteford (Year 5) who commence 12 months Maternity Leave at the end of term. STUDENT MATTERS As our Leavers near the end of their time at John Wollaston, we wish them every success in the final phase of their schooling. To those writing their Mock Examinations in the next few days it is a stressful time. As always, our good wishes go to all involved. I look forward to leading the School's celebrations for the Year 12s early next term. Our 2013 Prefects have completed their duties and were duly acknowledged at the Secondary assembly this week. The incoming Prefects were announced to the School (refer Mrs Twining’s article). We wish them well in their new roles. STUDENT WITHDRAWALS DECEMBER 2013 To assist the School’s planning for 2014, please contact the Registrar should you be considering withdrawing your child at the end of the year. We understand that confirmation of withdrawal is often affected by different timelines in other educational institutions or the workplace. In some cases applicants aren’t notified until the Christmas holidays if they are successful. Final confirmation of withdrawal can come to the School at that stage. In the interim, early contact with us would be greatly appreciated. It will also prevent you from incurring a fee penalty for not giving the required term’s notice of withdrawal of a child from the School. With best wishes for an enjoyable holiday break.
