Once again we are very pleased with our Single Level Tes t results. 253 entries were originally made for 120 children but when the tests were taken we had 24 children absent with one who had left. Out of the 226 tests sat, 195 children achieved their levels in Reading, Writing or Maths. We were particularly pleased with a number of children who managed to achieve full marks or were one or two marks off 100%. A number of children took tests in all three areas and a growing number have achieved a higher level in this round of testing. This again re-enforces the accuracy of our teacher assessments. Well done to all the children involved. The next round of SLTs will be in June. Update—£633 for school & £422 for Superschools so far Single Level Test Results arrive See how our garden grows…. Work continued on the school garden during half term with some members of staff, friends and Mr Allen, a governor, with his 2 children, working in some rather unpleasant weather conditions. At least now the garden planters are nearly ready for Spring planting. Many thanks to Mr Kempster and Mr Allen for making the wooden planters and to Miss Wilson for directing the work. Core learningCount reliably at least 20 objects, recognising that when rearranged the number of objects stays thesame; estimate a number of objects that can be checked by counting (Counting and Understanding Number) Learning objective We are learning to count objects reliably Success criteria Remember to…• Move each object in turn or touch each object whilst saying the next number (counting)• Only count each object once• Record the last number you say as that is the number of objects in the setCore learning
Read and write numerals from 0 to 20, then beyond; use knowledge of place value to position thesenumbers on a number track and number line (Counting and Understanding Number) Learning objectiveWe are learning to order numbers Success criteriaRemember to…• Look at the tens column of the number and decide if the number is less than 10, a ‘tens’ number a
‘twenties’ number…• Find where the numbers less than 10, ‘tens’ numbers and ‘twenties’ numbers go on the number line/
track/square• Look at the units column of the number and make sure that the units column of the number before is
less and the units column of the number after is more
Core learningRelate addition to counting on; recognise that addition can be done in any order; use practical and infor-mal written methods to support the addition of a one-digit number or a multiple of 10 to a one-digit or two-digit number (Calculating) Learning objectiveWe are learning to add two numbers using an empty number line Success criteriaRemember to…• Write the biggest number at the beginning of the number line and add on the smallest• Add on the tens first then the units by counting on in jumps• Draw a loop to show each jump and write the size of the jump above it• Write the number you are on after each jump under the line• Only add on the amount in the sum (this will be the total above the loops)Core learningUnderstand subtraction as 'take away' and find a 'difference' by counting up; use practical and informalwritten methods to support the subtraction of a one-digit number from a one digit or two-digit number anda multiple of 10 from a two-digit number (Calculating) Learning objectiveWe are learning to find a ‘difference’ by counting up Success criteriaRemember to…• Write the smallest number at the beginning of the number line and the biggest number at the end• Count on in jumps until you get to the end number •
Draw a loop to show each jump and write the size of the jump above it• Write the number you are on after each jump under the line
Maths support—Each week we will cover success criteria for all year
groups. This was used in the Maths Meeting for Parents last year.
Many thanks to Mrs Andrea Chappenden who has been awarded a £500
donation from her employers HSBC for the 3rd year in succession!! This
is in recognition of the time she volunteers for FOB. Well done to her.
Hopefully other parents may also qualify for a similar scheme with
their companies. So do please ask….

Best Behaved ClassesMiss Fisher was pleased to see that there was an
increase in the number of classes this week
achieving 100% of Gold Behaviour. Even better
was the fact that there had not been any ‘red’
behaviour all week.
So well done to RB, 1B, 1W, 2H and 5S for
100% gold behaviour.
The results are displayed under the SchoolCouncil board near the school office.
