Community Fun Day

Anyone interested in helping out on Community Fun Day is to tell Mrs Hosking in the Main Office. 13 weeks to go!

Basketball Competition

8 students competed in the 2nd South West Regional Finals for Inclusive Zone

Basketball on Wednesday 20th March 2013.

The first match was played against reigning National Champions, Writhlington

which we drew 4-4.

The vital equaliser was scored but eventually we came third overall.

Our 2nd game was a must win game to get through to the final on the day but

we narrowly lost 7-4.

The team did really well on the day against some tough opposition, and be-

ing the youngest team, there holds hope for the next tournament.

Well done guys from everyone at Pool Academy.

Curriculum Enrichment Week

Deposits are now overdue. If you have not sent this in, please send it to Mrs York

before Easter. Final payments are needed by 5th June for most of the activities.

PASSPORT TO THE WORLD: WORLD FOOD

Laura Matthews, Ellie Bell, Jenn Rogers, and Hal-lie Bone enjoying the Chinese food served in the canteen last Thursday, based on a menu they de-vised as part of a Geography project earlier this year.

Following the success of the Icelandic and Chi-

nese menus in the school canteen, Pool Acade-

my's culinary tour of the world moves on to Italy!

Next Tuesday, 26th March, the lunch time menu

will feature Italian food. The Icelandic and Chi-

nese food served by the kitchen staff was very well received, so come and taste what they

can do with Italian!

The menu is based on ideas produced by Year 7 students in Geography lessons earlier this

year, as part of a research based project on countries of their choice. The students presented

their research and menus to the rest of their tutor group, and each tutor group then decided

on the best presentation.

Other choices will be available for students who do not want to eat Italian. Well done to So-

fia Morgato, Leah Robins, Amber Wingfield, Suzie Edwards, and Jasmin Binney from 7BM for

their winning presentation and menu!

Newspapers If anyone has any old newspapers at home, can they please be given to the Art Department as their stock is running low!

Calling all Homemakers and Hobbyists

Do you have any useable remnants of fabric that we can recycle in our textile

projects? We are currently with cotton so it’s very expensive and we are

struggling to offer a choice of resources to our students.

Can you help out? fabric, threads, wools, buttons and bows all welcomed.

Send your offering to Mrs Wills, Textiles department DT6
