After a rigorous election process, including an interview with both Karen ter Haar and myself, it is with great pleasure that I announce the following for 2017: School Captains Vice Captains Brigitte C & Ethan P Jeyda M & Noah B I look forward to working closely with these young leaders in 2017. The rest of the leadership process is also underway with an announcement of leadership roles occurring later this term. GK takes out the STATE BASKETBALL FINAL Tuesday our boys basketball team convincingly won three games at MSAC to get into the State Final. I felt fortunate to be there on the day with Shannon Whelan (Coach) and a dedicated group of parents to cheer the boys to a close win against St. Bernadette’s—34 to 31. These boys were impressive in their skill but more importantly, in the manner in which they played, displaying respect and a commitment to each other that is not always seen in challenging games. These boys have played through District level, Division level and Region level to get to this point—amazing team effort. Congratulations to all the boys and to Shannon Whelan on this amazing feat. Some pictures can be found later in the Linkletter and the boys will also present their winning flag to our school on Monday at assembly. Also a big congratulations to our Orienteering Team who were very successful last Friday in the State Orienteering Championships. Further information in Mr Blackburn’s sport re- port later in the Linkletter. REMEMBRANCE DAY Last Friday our community stopped to pay respect on November 11th at 11.00am with many other countries in the world. Our school leaders led the ceremony with some information about why we take time to reflect on the sacrifices others have endured for our freedom. We then stopped for our mi- nute silence with 100% respect. A wreath was laid at our ANZAC bollard to signify our level of respect on the day and as these pictures display, activities in classes assisted in reiterating this. Staffing Changes While we have not completed the pro- cess of classes and teachers for 2017, I can inform you of two changes that have oc- curred just recently. Anna Kapnoullas was due to return this term from Family Leave, however will now stay on Family Leave indefinitely, with Marg Omond continuing in 3K until the end of the year. Also it is with sadness that we say goodbye to Daniel Boulton at the end of this year. Daniel is moving to Hazel Glen College in 2017 and we wish him all the very best in this. Last night the 2017 Prep Team were also announced at the Prep Information Night. The team will be Angela Totino, Hannah Longo, Marisa Pace and Bianca Perry. Other staffing will be shared in the next few weeks. Leanne 2017 Class Placement Requests TOMORROW is the FINAL DAY that parent requests for placement consideration can be made. Social or emotional context is only considered, not teacher preference. Some consideration may be given in regards to composite class requests based on this. Clas- ses will be finalised by TUESDAY next week with no additional changes after this point. Thanks
