Class Hamilton

Senior Barrett has continued to enjoy our music therapy lessons. In our last lesson we listened to classical music and had the opportunity to look at and sound a violin. Anna unfortunately was away on the day of our classical lesson but she was previously seen playing an island drum. Well done everybody!

The first of our Year 12 Graduation Ceremonies was marked last week. Our Year 12 students were presented with their Graduation Jersey at Assembly, followed by morning tea served by Class Hamilton.

Mother’s Day Stall Thank you P&C Representatives for putting on the Mothers Day stall. Many of our students accessed the stall where they practiced their money/purchasing skills.

Class Hawthorne

Hawthorne’s class participated in designing and making a decorative cup for Mother’s Day. The students observed a comparison of paint or a nail polish mix in a wash to create a decorative pattern or a marbled effect without it wiping off the cup. The students observed that the nail polish wash was the most durable. Student chose colours to use in the mix and assisted filling the cup with sweets and wrapping the cup in cellophane. The paint was utilised to create a card and attached to the gift.

Class Gardener To start term 2 off, Class Gardener has been

investigating STEAM projects in class. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics and is focused on students participating in lessons that include many of their curriculum areas. To begin the process we investigated how boats float? What can they be made of? What designs could we use? And how do they move across water? Over the course of several lessons students were involved in the construction, testing and racing of boats they built. All students enjoyed the process and tried to make their boats as colourful, reliable and fast as possible.
