Exam season is already upon us with some exams already having taken place in subjects such as Drama and Art Photography. All students have been issued personalised timetables and a timetable of all examinations can be found on the school website. They will also have been issued with revision materials from their subjects for them to work with at home.
It is essential that all students are in full uniform for all exams. Students are advised to arrive to the location of their exam at least 15 minutes before it is due to start. Students who will be doing their exams through Curriculum Access need to ensure they have checked the location of their exams on their timetable or check the board outside A22.
We advise students not to bring their phones or watches to school as they are items that if taken into the exam will disqualify them, (and potentially other exams too). If necessary they will be collected on entry to the exam and reissued afterwards, but that will require them finding their Head of Year upon the completion of the exam.
Providing all-round support
The best way to support your child during the stress of revision and exams is to make home life as calm and pleasant as possible. It helps if other members of the household are aware that your child may be under pressure and that allowances should be made for this.
Make sure there are plenty of healthy snacks in the fridge and try to provide good, nutritious food at regular intervals. Encourage your child to join family meals, even if it is a busy revision day - it's important to have a change of scene and get away from the books and computer for a while. Also encourage your child to take regular exercise. A brisk walk around the block can help clear the mind before the next revision session.
It is important to get a good night's sleep before an exam, so discourage your child from staying up late to cram. And make sure he or she eats a good breakfast on the morning of the exam.

Alpha have certainly been lighting up the top of the individual competition, with the number 1 and 3 ranked players in Ronan and Ninuja, but they haven’t had the depth of the top two houses. Yaaseen has been left to do almost all the work for Kappa and they lag behind a bit at this point. Omega have deserved their place at the top of the table with their strength in depth. They have been the only house to have players from more than three forms, and three players in the top 10. With Sigma’s 10P being registered in C9, they have contributed the lion’s share (over 1000) of Sigma’s points, but they can’t sustain it all by themselves!
The competition continues every lunchtime in C9 until half term, and the scor-ing system has been updated so that playing a game scores 1 point for your house regardless of the result, and winning a game will score your house at least 10 points instead of the old minimum of 1 point.
See you in C9!

The Year 7, 8 & 10 girls swimming teams took part in the annual borough swimming gala against several local schools, competing in individual freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke & butterfly as well team freestyle and medley relays.
All of the girls did incredibly well against tough opposition, of which the majority have regular access to a pool, something that unfortunately we cannot boast. The Year 10 team proved to be our best team on the day coming 3rd place for their year group. This was aided by some exceptional performances from Prasha Maniccadevan who came 1st in the individual backstroke and Zoe Williams who came 2nd in the individual breastroke.
The whole year 10 team also swam well in the freestyle relay, securing 2nd. Emily Bown swam one of the best races of the day in the Year 8 individual butterfly to win first place. The results for each year team were combined to produce a team score, the results of which have not yet been released.
Here’s Mr Cullen on the way to a fantastic personal best time of 3:42:25 in the London Marathon last Sunday. He finished 216 in his age category. It’s not too late to sponsor him using the details below.
Thank you to everyone that has already done so.
