What a wonderful surprise Last Wednesday evening when assistant Governor, Neil Wallace attended our meeting. His main purpose was to present to Rotary Club of Mackay West a Rotary Citation for our efforts in 2017/2018. The award was accepted by past President Ross Walker on the club’s behalf. Well done to everyone. We had our AGM, at which Michael Curtin was elected as President elect, Warren Benjamin as secretary and Dale Stebbeings as Treasurer for the 2019/2020 year. Thank you to these members for stepping up to these positions. Michael is now in the process of assembling his Board and if you are approached, please think very seriously about offering your services. The financial statements of the Club were presented by Treasurer John Palmer and endorsed unanimously and the Auditor was appointed. We have been assured that the ladies had a great Christmas party last Tuesday evening. On behalf of the club, I’d personally like to thank everyone who supported and donated items to “It’s in the Bag” appeal. Several ladies were able to make up more bags with the extra supplies that had been donated by the combined efforts of Mackay West Rotaryannes and several other organisations making a total of 90 bags which were taken to the centres. This very worthwhile project will help many others in our community who are less fortunate than ourselves. Well done Ladies. Dec 2nd saw the Children’s Christmas party celebrated by members and their children and grandchildren. Santa made an appearance to hand out presents to the youngsters. The kids enjoyed the pool and a pleasant time was had by all. A big thanks goes to Megs and Dale for the organisation of this function. Our Christmas party is being held at Church on Palmer on Wednesday, December 5th at 6.30 for a 7 pm start. As the cost will be $40 per person for a three course meal and the numbers have already been notified to the restaurant, if you do not attend, you still need to pay. As this is my last bulletin before I go on leave, on behalf of Tricia and myself, we would like to wish you and your families a Safe and Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2019. May you all be blessed with good health and joy as we celebrate this wonderful time of the year. Thanks PP Ross for covering in my absence. Have a great week and Be The Inspiration. In The Bag
On Tuesday night, November 20, Our ladies gathered at Megs & Dale’s home in McGrath Street for a social evening and to prepare items for the “In The Bag” project.
There is a story about four people named Everybody Somebody Anybody and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and everybody was asked to do it.
Everybody was sure that somebody would do it and anybody could have done it but nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody’s job.Everybody thought that anybody could do it but nobody realised that everybody
would do it.It ended up that everybody blamed somebody when actually nobody asked anybody.

Hi Vic,
It was our absolute pleasure to welcome your members into Icon and to see such interest in our Centre, we thoroughly enjoyed sharing it with you. I hope your dinner went well afterwards, and that the nibbles didn't spoil anyone's appetite!
It is difficult for one to get a sense of how many people cancer affects from all walks of life until one has to come through our doors. We do our part to help people go about their lives as normally as they can, and to help them see they are not alone, we're in this together.
I look forward to hearing about upcoming Rotary events, and do hope to keep this connection going. Please let me know if any of your members have any questions as I'm only a phone call away.
Thank you for organising, Warm regards, Brock
