move back to the area, to her childhood sum-mer home in Westerly, Rhode Island, she knewshe would have to do something with the run-down cottage.

“The house was in bad shape,” she said. “Iknew it would need to be torn down.”

Kurzman had heard a lot about modular con-struction over the years, and decided to visit alocal homeshow, to meet builders, and to re-search the possibility of erecting a modularhome on her property. She met with five build-ers, and gathered a wealth of information. Ofthe five builders she met with, just one followedup with her - Attila Keller of Ricon Homes.

“I never heard from the other four builders,”said Kurzman. “And after speaking to Attila, Iknew he would be easy to work with.”

Karen and her cousin, a local architect,worked together to design the house that suitedher needs. They presented the design to Kellerin the hopes that he could find a modular de-sign that was similar.
