As well, we are well into preparation for our 2019 class structure and placement. I encourage any families who are aware of any incoming students, whether into Prep or throughout any year levels, to contact our office as soon as possible to ensure inclusion into our 2019 class structures. Likewise, it is important for us to be aware of any possible students leaving our school due to moving suburbs, etc. Our class structure for 2019 is as follows: Prep: Year 1/2: Year 3/4: Lauren Taglieri Emily Edgley Andrea Lagana Pina Saliba Rebecca Bruce Nick Shelley Nicole Robb Jamie McDonald Kat Ridsdale Callum Shaw Dominic Bolger Year 5/6: Heather Neilson Natasha Narayan Steven Meagher Specialists: Penny Allibon Nerida Newell Molly Jeffries Daniel Kret Education Support: Kerrie Laurie, Jeremy Cass, Nicole Morton, Susie Hull, Nahla Said, Dee Gault English as Additional Language: Michelle Agar Auslan: To be confirmed Corrective Reading: Nicole Morton I am delighted to announce the staff members joining our team in 2019. Dominic Bolger, who stepped into 3/4A during Belinda Ancell’s family leave, has accepted a Family Leave position. Nicole Robb, who has become very familiar with our school since her pre-service placement, and frequent voluntary visits to support our students, has accepted a 12 month contract. We welcome back Michelle Agar, from Family Leave, who steps into English as Additional Language, supporting students who are new to our country or require additional assistance. Sadly, we say goodbye to our lovely Mrs Hutton who has reached the pinnacle of her career, now retiring to spend time with her family. Mrs Hutton has worked in education for over 40 years, and has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to each position she has held throughout her career. She has provided so many of our EAL students with wonderful experiences to assist them in learning English. We wish Mrs Hutton all the very best in her journey of retirement. Our Colour Explosion Run event held a few weeks ago was a huge success, with our students thoroughly enjoying their colourful obstacle course. It was lovely to see the many families who came along to cheer (and laugh) as our students were showered with coloured powder. The fundraising sponsorship has been overwhelming, with a predicted $8,000 being raised towards air conditioning for our new school hall. This is an amazing achievement, from one event, and I’m sure all of our students (and staff) will be extremely appreciative in the coming warmer months as we endure the hot weather. Prizes are being finalised this week, with expected delivery in the next two weeks. I am very pleased to advise our community that TheirCare will be providing School Holiday Care from 21 st January 2019. A timetable and information flyer is attached, which outlines the cost, activities and excursions TheirCare will offer. As well, TheirCare will be available for out of school hours care on Tuesday 29 th January, being the day before Year 1-6 students start back at school, and before/after school thereafter throughout the term, as usual. Please be aware that Tuesday 11 th December is a PUPIL FREE DAY which has been allocated for our staff to conduct a thorough handover of student information. Progress is really coming along in our new building, although it may be difficult to see, given that the majority of work being done

is internal. The painting is almost complete, flooring is being laid, blinds and cabinetry being installed, etc. The outside decking is

almost finished, along with the remaining external work. We are still expecting handover on Friday 21st December. The

landscaping and pathway/stairs towards the entrance of our new building will be completed during the school holiday break.

The new basketball area is being prepared for the asphalt to be laid, followed by the installation of the new ground.

A reminder that parents are not to use our staff carpark, or driveway, to drop off or pick up their child/ren. Please note our new

“Kiss & Drop” Zone on Bendoran Crescent, as well as our new “Disabled Parking” bay (time limited 1 hour). The Kiss & Drop Zone is an

easy option for parents, who don’t wish to come onto our school grounds, to simply drop their children off or pick them up. Parents

can simply drive along Thornton Avenue, turn right onto Bendoran Crescent and then arrive at our Kiss & Drop zone. Parents must

not park in this car parking area facing the opposite direction, nor make u-turns (on Bendoran Crescent or Balmoral Avenue) to

access the Kiss & Drop car park area. This zone will alleviate the limited car parking issue and develop a little independence,

particularly with our older students. Our newly painted and sign-posted Disabled Car Park is situated on Bendoran Crescent (towards

Balmoral Avenue) to assist those parents/carers with a disabled parking sign. If used properly, these new parking zones will be most

helpful for our families.

Enjoy your week!

Lee Pollard
