Namaste, It gives us great pleasure and honour to have been elected as the Executive Committee for the year 2011/2012. As we approach Navratri and Diwali, we would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the past years events and look forward to the year ahead. Throughout the year we have celebrated our religious events, with the most recent being the celebration of the month of Shravan and our 28th Murti Mohatsav in August. Firstly we would like to thank the Mandir committee who day in day out, regardless of the weather make the sacrifice throughout the whole year to come and perform the Puja, Arti and changing of the Vagha in the mornings and the evening. The Mahila have continued their seva, by cooking at all the bhojans throughout the year, preparing prashadi and all aspects of cleaning and preparation for festivities. The Mahila have continued its support to SPA UK, by taking part in the Mahila Samelan which was held in Leicester and also continued the annual tradition of Anand Bazzar the Bradford Sports day. The youth continue to take part in weekly sports clubs, and participated in the local sports day and HQ Sports day. For 2011, a new sports club has been set up on Tuesday evenings where players can participate in table tennis, darts, carom and dominoes. Exercise classes have continued to run on Monday and Wednesday evenings and are now in their 10th year. The Gujarati School continues to run on Sunday mornings. This year we have been involved with making changes to the Samaj building. Work has been carried out on blocking the windows behind the mandir, the wall outside the main entrance has been re-built and a new fresh air extraction system has been installed in the main hall. The next project is refurbishment of the toilet facilities and continued painting and decorating. With this in mind, we would also like to thank the maintenance committee for their efforts in cleaning, painting and general maintenance of the building. In addition thanks goes to the area secretaries for ensuring that all publications are distributed in a timely manner. As a community there are many talented people; so whatever your interest or skill set, be it maintenance or religious, please come forward and provide your names to the secretary, you will be most welcome. The future of the Samaj is in your hands. Finally we would like to thank all our past and present committee members and our Prajapati community for their support over the year. These are the unsung heroes that make the Samaj the success it is and look forward to it continuing into the future. We wish all our members a very Happy Diwali and a Prosperous New Year.
