Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation P a g e | 1 I.S.S.F Newsletter January 2016 Tunisian Habiba Ghribi 2015 Best Arab Sports Personality ******** The Arab Sport Press Association, in Tunis, issued a verdict on who the best Arab Sports Personality of the year 2015 was and Tunisian Habiba Ghribi, the 2nd World Champion who won silver at the women's 3000 metres steeplechase events at both 2015 World Championships in Beijing and 2011 IAAF World Championships in Daegu, and held the best performance of the year at the meeting of the IAAF Diamond League in Birmingham, which declared her as the winner of the women's category to take the title of “Best Arab Sportswoman of the Year 2015”. A week earlier in Tunis, Habiba was elected best Tunisian sportswoman of the year 2015 by the annual poll organised by Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) news agency. She also won recognition by readers of the famous magazine Jeune Afrique, as one of the most devoted and significant Women of Africa in the year 2015. It is recalled that Habiba Gribi also won the silver medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games behind doping convicted Russian; Yuliya Zaripova. Conversely, it is expected that the Gold Medal of the London Games as well as the World Championships in Daegu 2011 will be returned to her in the coming months. Habiba’s current objective is her preparation for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, with Gold as her highest step of the Athletics podium.
