Fourth seed Aditya Jagtap of Mumbai defeated second seed Gaurav Nandrajog of Delhi in the grand finale to win the 73rd CCI-Western India Open Squash Tournament at the Cricket Club of India courts.
Jagtap won his maiden men's title in the championship following an impressive 5-11, 13-11, 12-10, 12-10 win in one hour in a final that was marked by long rallies and eye-catching shots.
2016 U.S. Junior Open Squash Championships at Connecticut, USA20th December 2016
U.S. junior champion Andrew Douglas capped off his breakout year with his first U.S. Junior Open title, while Japan's
Satomi Watanabe earned a fourth consecutive title in the girls' U19 division Tuesday at Yale University in New Haven,
Connecticut.
The U.S. Junior Open, the largest individual junior tournament in the world, had a field of 889 players from thirty-four
countries, six continents and twenty-two states. Four venues hosted the tournament on a combined forty-three
courts at Yale, Trinity College, Wesleyan University and Choate Rosemary Hall.
Of the ten champions, four represented Team USA, two Egypt and one Japan, Mexico, England and India.
History was made when top seed 12 year old Shreyas Mehta became the 1st Indian to win Boy's Under -13 category
after defeating Egypt's Islam Kouritam 11-4, 7-11, 11-6, 11-9.
Yohann Surti and Aishwarya Bhattacharya from Maharashtra emerged the U-19 winners in the boys and girls sections as the 5th JSW Sunil Verma Memorial junior squash Open conlcuded here at nearby Vasind.
