here’s something special about an island. Prince Edward Island will draw you into its comfortable, relaxed pace. Freed from the stresses of your regular routine, you’ll soon find yourself living on Island Time. Just as the surrounding waters carve and mold the land, our people will shape your experience. Time on PEI goes beyond the jagged red cliffs, peaceful sandy beaches, and rolling green hills. It’s more than impossibly-fresh seafood, creative artisans, and world-class golf. It’s all of those things, and something a little harder to identify. As you board our boats, tour our studios, and visit our homes, you’ll realize that you’ve also been welcomed into our hearts. Welcome to our island!

ABOVE ~ Brackley, PEI National Park. Stretching across 60 kilometres of the north shore, PEI National Park features seven supervised beaches, the 19-kilometre Gulf Shore Way seaside trail and the towering dunes of Greenwich.

FACING PAGE ~ The Island’s south shore tends to have the warmest water and reddish sand. The north shore is characterized with rolling surf and white sand, like at Lakeside, pictured here.

PREVIOUS PAGE ~ Bright yellow canola fields enhance the view overlooking the dunes at Springbrook.

FRONT COVER ~ Sea View. Stroll the water’s edge and breathe the fresh sea air. What could be better?

ABOVE ~ New London. Our “Authentic PEI Experiences” are your perfect chance to take part in Island life, meet the locals – and go home with a story worth telling the neighbours.

RIGHT ~ The Island is home to world-famous PEI potatoes. In early summer, the vivid-green potato fields framed by our bright red soil and the intense blues of our waters make for great photo opportunities. DeSable shown here.

FACING PAGE ~ North Lake Harbour. Picturesque fishing communities like this one dot the Island’s coastline. When dining out, order the seafood – the lobster, mussels and oysters can’t get any fresher!

ABOVE ~ Victoria Row, Charlottetown. The Island’s capital, Charlottetown, is a vibrant urban centre that has a lively arts community. Here you will find abundant live theatre, concerts, art shows, galleries and craft shops.

FACING PAGE ~ Music is a big part of many PEI festivals and events. And it comes in an eclectic mix, from Acadian fiddling to authentic Celtic, from jazz to country. Plan to attend one of our festivals or events, or visit a craft studio in one of the Island’s quaint, cultural venues.

PREVIOUS PAGE ~ The West Point Lighthouse. The Island’s lighthouses come in different heights and shapes, varying colours and designs. Each is unique, with its own history and story to tell.

ABOVE ~ The novel “Anne of Green Gables” was first published in 1908 by Lucy Maud Montgomery. For those who just can’t get enough of their favourite red-headed girl, or the woman who created her, there are Anne-related attractions all over the Island.

FACING PAGE ~ The Confederation Players (shown here) perform historical vignettes as the “Fathers and Ladies of Confederation” on their historic walking tours in Charlottetown. In 2014 we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the 1864 Charlottetown Conference – come see why we are called “Canada’s Birthplace.”

ABOVE ~ Rock formations, like this one along the shore at Darnley, are carved by the sea and enhance our ever-changing coastline.

LEFT ~ Stratford. Because of the Island’s irregular shape and countless bays and inlets, a trip along our coast delivers new vistas at every turn. Touring our coastal drives is the perfect way to explore the Island’s diverse landscape and history.
