barakatuhu
Dear Parents,
Term 4 is the last term of the year; how-
ever at ICOM, it is just as productive as
the previous three terms. In term 4, it’s
time to review the whole curriculum and
make sure that the students are ready
for the next year level.
The attendance as always is a big issue
to us, we strongly recommend parents to
have their students attend all days of
school. The college is and will keep tak-
ing action against repetitive unjustified
absences.
Swimming, which is a Sunnah of the
prophet PBUH, started for primary stu-
dents in week 2 of this term. Another
Sunnah is horse riding, which the Sec-
ondary students will pursue soon.
Sports wise, footy day was a big day at

approach to link students to reading and
learning.
The Summit campsite was the first ever
camp for ICOM. Alhamdulilah it was a
great success with students going out-
side their circles of comfort and getting
involved in various activities. The school
leadership team was present at the camp
with myself attending on the first night
and giving the students an inspiring
spiritual talk around the campfire. Of
course, it wouldn't be a campfire without
some tasty marshmallows. On the sec-
ond night, Dr Eid attended and gave a
well prepared lecture. We look forward
to next year’s camp where the Year 5
and 6 students will also be going on
camp with the Secondary students.
The Hajj program was an exciting experi-
ence for the students at ICOM, with the
replicas of the Kaaba, Safa and Marwa
hills plus many other Hajj monuments
created, the students were able to expe-
rience Hajj and feel a true connection. A
number of students also sung Hajj
nasheeds during the morning assembly.
The fundraiser sausage sizzle at the end
of term 3 was a huge success. Secondary
students prepared and planned the en-
tire event which included selling sausag-
es to students and teachers in addition
to peeling, boiling and selling corn. The
event raised more than $2000 in total
and was directed towards the construc-
tion of the new Virgin Mary Mosque.
This gesture is intended to strengthen
the student’s community feeling and
sense of belonging. I am very proud of
the effort and dedication of our stu-
dents.
The parent portal is currently up and
running. Parents should receive a letter
in the mail with their username, pass-
word and details on how to use the
parent portal. The parent portal will be
the gateway to obtaining your child’s
information, including current details,
school reports, school fees and im-
portant dates or notices from the col-
lege.
We are looking forward to the final
term of 2016.

Principal
Please ensure that students are given food or money for recess and lunch as it is a huge concern that students
have been coming to school without any food. Secondary students are allowed to buy straight from the canteen,
however Primary students are to make a lunch order.
Reminder to parents that Term 4 school fees were due Friday, 23 October 2015. Please ensure all outstanding fees
are paid as soon as possible.
If parents wish for their child/ren to use the bus service in 2016, please obtain a Bus Request Form from Admin-
istration and return it by Friday, 30 October 2015. If the form is not returned by this date, we are unable to guaran-
tee a place in the buses for your child/ren.
Students have a right to obtain a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with stu-
dents coming to school each and every day. Therefore, please ensure your child/ren attend school everyday unless
they are sick or have a legitimate reason to be absent. If your child/ren will be absent, please call or email the col-
lege and leave a message with your child/ren’s full name, class and reason.
As of 2016, the college has decided to extend the school day by a further 10 minutes. Therefore, students will fin-
ish school at 3.30pm.
If parents are planning on taking their child/ren on long leave, a students on long leave/overseas form must be
completed and submitted to the Administration Office at least two weeks prior to going on your leave.
Insha Allah as of next year, Secondary students will have a new uniform. The college is currently finalising the fin-
ishing touches with PSW and will provide parents with full details at a later date.
The new ICOM Parent Portal is up and running. This will be a new way of communicating with the college. It will
also allow you to view your current details, including outstanding fees and your child/ren’s report. You will receive
a booklet in the mail with your username, password and instructions on how to use the Portal.

Student Safety (Traffic)
TERM 4, ISSUE 7 Page 4
As many parents are aware, before school and after school
are the busiest times at the school. Please be cautious when
dropping off your child/ren in the mornings and when you
collect them after school.
Due to limited parking, parents and carers need to make
sure they are not double parking and also not stopping in
the middle of the car park or the street waiting for your
child/ren. Please abide by all traffic laws and do not by any
means block traffic on Wootten Road.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this
matter.
Last week the Secondary students went on ICOM’s first ever camp to The Summit. Ma-
shallah it was a great success, a huge thank you to all teachers who both attended and
helped organise this experience for our students. This will become a yearly event and many
more students get to experience a chance to build stronger relationships amongst each
other.

We have added 156 new books to the library collection since the beginning of term 4. The books include Picture Books and Islamic
Books for younger readers. We have also included more Islamic Books and Fiction Books for advanced readers. We hope students are
borrowing books and reading them as reading can increase a person’s knowledge. We also hope that students are taking extremely
good care of the books so we can enjoy reading them longer.
Top 5 Tips on How to Keep a Library Book in Good Condition
1. Once you find a book, examine it before checking it out. Although there will
likely be some minor wear and tear, skim through it and look for torn or missing
pages, large stains, pen or pencil writing, doodles, etc. Also check the covers for
missing or defaced parts. If you find any of these, report it to one of the librarians,
so they won't assume that you are responsible for the damage.
2. Once checked out, put the book straight into your library bag.
3. As soon as you have brought it home, put the book or your library bag neat-
ly on a sturdy shelf or table. Do not put it indiscriminately on a sofa, chair, or
bed, as someone may accidentally sit on it and damage the cover or pages if it is
left open..
4. Do not write in a book, not even in pencil.
5. Do not eat or drink near the library book.
Do read and enjoy the book!

Hajj Program in Term 3
The Hajj Program in Term 3 went very well. Students enjoyed it and
learnt some practical aspects of Hajj and the associated ritu-
als. Alhamdulillah it was a successful event.
