Islamic Academy of New England Fifth Grade Teacher: Ms. Rabiya Atcha Email: [email protected]Phone: (781) 784-0990 Assalamu Alaikum Dear Parents and Students of Fifth Grade, I hope you all are having a joyful and relaxing summer break, building precious memories with your loved ones. My name is Ms. Rabiya Atcha and I will be the Fifth Grade Teacher at IANE this year, Inshallah. I am incredibly excited to welcome you all back to a fresh new school year and I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you very soon! A little bit about me, for the past couple of years, I have been working as an educator in the public schools of Queens, NY. This past school year, was my first year teaching in IANE’s Fifth Grade Class. I hope to take everything I have learned thus far in my academic experiences, and incorporate it into my planning for this school year. Inshallah, it will be a successful school year for all of us! My expectations for this year include creating a safe, nourishing, and creative learning space that will allow students to break out of their comfort zone, reach new heights of learning, and get a chance to explore their strengths. I expect students to come in, every day, with a positive learning attitude, ready to engage in daily activities, and excited to work cooperatively as a Fifth Grade team member. I am attaching the Fifth Grade Supply List with this letter, in hopes that all of you get a chance to take a look and students are able to bring in supplies on the first day of school. Please make sure ALL items are labeled with student’s name. In case you aren’t aware, each grade at IANE has their own website. Our Fifth Grade website is updated weekly and is a crucial part of our class. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the website from now, and make it a habit to check up on it for updates on upcoming tests and events, weekend assignments, pictures of events, monthly newsletters, reading and math newsletters, contact information, and other important links and documents. It will be a key component in maintaining clear communication between the classroom and home.

Islamic Academy of New England Fifth Grade Teacher: Ms. Rabiya Atcha
!!Assalamu Alaikum Dear Parents and Students of Fifth Grade, I hope you all are having a joyful and relaxing summer break, building precious memories with your loved ones.
My expectations for this year include creating a safe, nourishing, and creative
learning space that will allow students to break out of their comfort zone, reach new heights of learning, and get a chance to explore their strengths. I expect students to come in, every day, with a positive learning attitude, ready to engage in daily activities, and excited to work cooperatively as a Fifth Grade team member.
I am attaching the Fifth Grade Supply List with this letter, in hopes that all
of you get a chance to take a look and students are able to bring in supplies on the first day of school. Please make sure ALL items are labeled with student’s name.
In case you aren’t aware, each grade at IANE has their own website. Our
Fifth Grade website is updated weekly and is a crucial part of our class.
Once again, I am incredibly excited to begin the 2016-17 school year with the Fifth Grade students and getting to know all of the parents. Please be on the lookout for Orientation Night, which should be set sometime after the school year begins. This event will provide the perfect opportunity for parents to get a sense of our classroom experience and better connect with the students and myself.
Meanwhile, any questions or concerns you may have over the summer, please
do not hesitate to contact me at the email address provided above. If you would like to meet with me in person or talk over the phone number provided above, you are welcome to schedule a meeting anytime after August 22nd. Throughout the school year, I am very flexible with how I keep in touch, so please feel free to contact me using whatever method is most convenient for you. I will try my absolute best to reach you as soon as possible.
As a final request, in an effort to better get to know the students, please
complete the “All About Me” activity found on the following page.
Jazakallahu Khair, Ms. Rabiya Atcha
Fifth Grade Questionnaire
Dear Students, Please print out this questionnaire OR use a clean sheet of lined paper (You don’t have to write out the questions, but be sure to number your answers.) Using complete sentences, answer each of the following questions to the best of your ability. Bring in this completed sheet, along with a picture of yourself (nothing smaller than wallet size [2x3 inches] and nothing larger than standard size, [4x6 inches]) on the first day of school. Parents are encouraged to work on this activity with their students. Good luck completing this first assignment. I can’t wait to learn ALL ABOUT YOU!
