SRILA PRABHUPADA SAID Just like this finger is part andparcel of my body. Whatever Iam ordering, it is immediately

carrying out. I say, Make it likethis. He will, it will do. So... Butthis is dead matter. It is actingmechanically. The brain directsimmediately the finger and itacts, like machine. This wholebody is just like a machine, butsoul is not machine mechanicalpart. It is spiritual part. Sotherefore, as I am directing thefinger, as being machine, it isworking, but if somebody else,a friend or servant, I may directhim to do something, he maynot do it. So when the soul mis-uses the independence, thenhe falls down. That is materiallife. Material life means misus-ing the independence of soul.

Just like a son. A sons duty is toobey the father. But he may notobey. That is his madness. Sowhen the soul, misusing theindependence, becomes mad,he is sent in this material

HARE KRISHNA HARE KRISHNAKRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE

HARE RAMA HARE RAMARAMA RAMA HARE HARE

On the 12th July, we went to the CharltonStreet festival in Kings Cross (just behindthe British Library) for a day of harinamasankirtana.

The attendees from the temple were: RadhaLondonishvara dasa, Prema Harinama dasa,Uddhava Damodar dasa, Sukyanti devi dasi,Bhaktin Louise and myself (Bhava Bhaktidd).

    Between us we took:

    x2 book boxesx1 mrdanga

x1 folding tablex1 Maha Mantra placardx1 bottle of waterx1 sound systemx1 harmonium (the shoulder type)and...x1 golf umbrellaWe somehow walked - harinam led bySukyanti dd - all the way there from thetemple carrying all the above!

This festival has been carried out every yearfor the past 12 years and it was Adi GuruPrabhu who first met the festival organisersat Soho Street and made the initial contact.Alan (one of the organisers) explained howthe area it was held in has a lot of problemswith drugs, poverty, low achievement etcand so the idea is to bring all different sec-tions of the community together and pro-mote unity. Alan said the Hare Krsnas arealways a welcome sight and addition to the

    festival.

Everyone was very happy to see the devo-tees and we first entered the street (stillcarrying all the extra baggage listed above!)walking down the street singing the holynames.. it was great as everyone stood still

behind their stalls and just starred at us !

The whole street was closed and there werestalls all over the place and 2 stages.

We were joined later by a devotee fromKings Cross Food for Life who came withsabji, rice and ice cream ... for the publicand the devotees !

At one point were went on stage - RadhaLondonishvara dasa, Sukyanti dd and myselfand RLI Prabhu sang for 20 - 25 minuteswith me and Sukyanti as backing singersand playing mrdanga and kartals respec-tively!

Later we were also joined by devotees fromthe Manor and Bhakta Sachin (representingthe Pandava Sena) - they all joined forceswith RLI Prabhu to perform rousing kirtanswhich had everyone enthralled.

At 4.00pm we decided to leave as we hadset off at 11.00am and so were a little tired(!) and so we all jumped on the bus (theywere free due to technical Oyster card prob-lems) along with our extra luggage!

    Harinama Sankirtana ki jay !

Your most fallen aspiring servant,Nruhari Das.

Hare Krishna Jai Nitai Prabhu & Ram CharanPrabhu,

Please accept my humble obeisances. Allglories to Srila Prabhupada.

Please forgive me for the delay in commu-

nication. I am practically recovering fromthe mercy bestowed by the wonderful, unmatched devotees of the RadhaLondonishvara temple. HG Lila Krishna

Prabhu told me that Prabhupada has men-tioned Their Lordships to be the source of allthe beauty of all the temple deities inEurope and surely their devotees seem tobe beacons for personal care and affectionas well. I could never ever feel qualified toeven think of reciprocating. Yet, I beg bothof you to feel free to engage me in servicethe way you find suitable. The one thing Ican think of is when you do visit India, to

contact me and I can attempt to be of someservice. I had a wonderful time in London-the temple was truly an Oasis in the Sohodesert and the shelter in Londons concretejungle for me. Many thanks for taking careof me.

Striving to serve the servants of servantsand always failing,Rishi Kumara Dasa
