Sept 2011
Five years in development
Background in RFID
Associations with 400 nano-labs and related
emerging technology start-ups
Consultancy role, bridging the gap, fast-tracking knowledge in nanoscience, nanotechnologies and emerging technology for practical business value and environmental best practice. We bring new solutions to old and new problems and excel in CO2 Footprint advice. We operate across five continents.
Sept 2011
The term NANO is derived from the ancient Greek word meaning dwarf: think everything phenomenally small……..instruments, products, materials, atoms
Nanomaterials & nanotechnologies are terms used by engineers almost everywhere on account of recent major advances in the materials science community: Instrumentation / AFM, sol gel disposition / soft lithography and so on
These technologies are multidisciplinary, offering opportunities in every business sector . They are revolutionising how we manage our environment and business processes and offer some truly compelling value for organizations.
Sept 2011
New technologies can reduce communication costs by £millions per
annum ( Let us show you!)
New ways to clean, using 40% less water
Remove need for aggressive cleaning chemicals
Reduce cleaning cycles by 50%
New R&D products, new processes, new solutions
Reduced fuel and oil use, ( c11% ( Let us show you!), + increased time
between maintenance cycles
Make light more efficient ( Let us show you!)
Positive impact on Healthcare / Construction / material design
Bigger than the ICT sector within a decade
Countless new applications to address sustainability issues
Why is it important?
Sept 2011
Nano materials have always been with us: the
building blocks of life = atoms & molecules.
What’s new: our ability to see and manipulate these
particles using:
Advanced instrumentation
Scanning Tunnelling Microscope (STM)
Atomic Force Microscopes (AFM)
Torsional Harmonic Cantilever (THC)
Enabling Single molecule imaging, manipulation
and the entire chemical reaction in real-time
Where has it come from?

How will it change the world around us?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCpkq_AeX50
Good Introduction to nano technology by EU
What is its significance?
Changes the model of operation to greener more efficient business operations Reduces costs Reduces use of aggressive cleaning chemicals Offers protection to assets Reduces water usage Reduces cleaning cycles Reduces maintenance Offers enhanced light illumination and contrast Antimicrobial protection Electronic protection against moisture / water New energy efficiency methods Emissions reduction ( diesel soot -70%
Sept 2011
Smart thin film coatings can offer value with
no negative influence on the look, colour or texture of materials
Long-lasting and has a flexible coating
Grease/Oil repellent
Salt water resistant
Detergent Proof
Water Repellent
High efficiency and resists acid, alkali, and solvents
Odourless
Short drying time
UV Stable
Particle free
Sept 2011
Green technologies offer scope to reduce costs & improve Footprint status
Brings real change, innovation and opportunities to improve Brand and profit
A real force for competitive advantage: all sectors
Antimicrobial protection for schools, colleges , public transport facilities etc
Cut all fleet cleaning costs / time, for example by 50%
Less energy costs = less business costs & compliance
Less water usage / better water management
Reduced pollution / better recycling
Reduce fuel costs for fleets around 11% average savings
Increased productivity / time / materials /
Aesthetic enhancement (front of house / vehicles/ property)
Food productivity ( more for less)
Why is it an opportunity for your organization?
Sept 2011
Reduced costs for cleaning and
maintenance / noise control
Seen to be Green in strategy and operation
Introduction to new world of nanoscience (can bring alternative benefits in products, services & building design)
Hallmark / Innovative company
Water conservation is good
Energy savings is good
Front of House, Business Names and Signs can look permanently new
Sept 2011
Work with friendly, responsive, knowledgeable team

best possible solutions and applications
We reduce risk by micro testing
Our wide network of nano-engineers ensure
clients get vendor-neutral advice and
best in class information
We engage world recognised expertise from top
Universities
We Identify projects that deliver immediate value
NLG offer commercial nano kits to gain initial
insight into the wide range and functionality of
smart fluids
Why engage with NLG?
Sept 2011
Applications depend on materials and size of project One needs to first define the result required Most large applications require an electric atomiser
Note the three types of coating functions:
1. Hydrophobic ( water repelling…drops form beads….using Sio2 etc ( so easy cleaning, less detergents, labour….
2. Hydrophilic ( water attracting : drops flatten out) Tio2… the functions are opposite! ( the force of the water to the surface on impact removed dirt which then falls with gravity and rain)
3. Photocatalytic ( UV-induced reactions that cause decomposition of dirt molecules….great for outside glass & concrete)
1, CLEAN- 2, Pre-CLEAN, 3,SPRAY, 4, POLISH Polymerisation will take immediate effect, within 24 hours
Sept 2011
Sept 2011
Always wear mask
Spray in well
ventilated room or
outdoors if appropriate
Wear rubber gloves
Keep away from live
flame or sparks
and comply with all
application & safety
instructions provided
by manufacturer
Comply with
temperature warnings
Abrasion can remove coatings. Anti-bacterial charge can fail after 12 months.
Surface tension can be measured to determine fatigueless . Follow up cleaning of fatigued areas with Isopropanol, pre-cleaner is recommended. New applications may be required annually depending on
materials and environment. Coatings generally are food safe.

Hi Dermott,
As you can see from the spreadsheet attached we have had some really good results from the test 24hrs after the application, really impressive.
We will continue to test on a weekly basis for the next three weeks and I will forward the results to you as we gather them.
Cheers
Andy…………..
