Shannon Airport• The Dublin Airport Authority managed Shannon Airport until 2013• Between 2002 and 2007, passenger numbers at the airport grew

significantly from 2.35 million in 2002 to 4.6 million in 2007. • Under the control of the Dublin Airport Authority, Shannon

Airport passenger numbers between 2007 and 2012 declined by 70%

• There were a number of reasons for the decline– Less troops travelling to Iraq and Afghanistan – Expiration of the deal with Ryanair and failure to agree a new one– Overall downturn in the number of tourists travelling from the United

States

Shannon Airport• As a result of this decline, the airport was made

independent and controlled by the Shannon Airport Authority as of 31/12/12

• This independence will allow Shannon Airport control its own destiny.

• The airport targets to treble earnings at the airport by 2017.

• Since the Shannon Airport Authority was setup, five new routes have been opened and 2013 has been very positive to date

a growth of passenger numbers with the advent of The Gathering, a positive fourth quarter in 2012 and new routes.
