Important: Read this information before usingyour satellite phone
Exposure toRadio
FrequencySignals
Your satellite telephone is a low power radiotransmitter and receiver When it is ON, itreceives and also sends out radio frequency(RF) signals Operation is subject to thefollowing two conditions: (1) this device may
not cause interference, and (2) this device mustaccept any interference, including interferencethat may cause undesired operation of thedevice
International agencies have set standards andrecommendations for the protection of publicexposure to RF electromagnetic energy
International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP)
Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE)
United States Federal Commission, RadioFrequency Exposure Guidelines
National Radiological Protection Board ofthe United Kingdom
American National Standards Institute(ANSI) IEEE C95 1-1992
National Council on Radiation Protectionand Measurements (NCRP) Report 86
Department of Health and Welfare
Canada Safety Code 6
These updated ANSI standards are based on anextensive scientic review of the available bodyof research by over 120 scientists, engineers, and physicians from universities, government

SpecicAbsorption
Rate Data
This model phone meets internationalstandards for exposure to radio waves.
Your satellite phone is a radio transmitter and
receiver It is designed and manufactured notto exceed limits for exposure to radiofrequency (RF) energy These limits are part ofcomprehensive guidelines and establishedpermitted levels of RF energy for the generalpopulation The guidelines are based onstandards that we developed by independent
scientic organizations through periodic andthorough evaluation of scientic studies Theguidelines include a substantial safety margindesigned to assure the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health
The exposure standard for mobile phonesemploys a unit of measurement known as the
Specic Absorption Rate, or SAR Under theguidelines for this model, the SAR limit is 16W/kg *Tests for SAR were conducted inaccordance with CENELEC and FCC testingprocedures using standard operatingpositions with the phone transmitting at itshighest certied power level in all tested
frequency bands Although the SAR isdetermined at the highest certied powerlevel, the actual SAR of the phone whileoperating can be below the maximum valueBefore a phone model is available for sale tothe public, it is tested to conrm compliancewith the guidelines The tests are performed
health agencies and related industriesThe design of your phone complies with thesestandards when used as described underPhone Operation on page 23
This product is compliant with IndustryCanada RSS-102 for RF Exposure

in positions and locations (eg, at the ear andworn on the body) that conform to a uniformtesting methodology determined by an expertstandards body The highest SAR level recorded
from this product was 0869 mW/g for a 1gcube which was below the uncontrolled (iegeneral population) limit While there may bedifferences between the SAR levels of variousphones and at various positions, they all meetthe governmental requirements for safeexposure PLEASE NOTE THAT MODIFICATIONS
TO THIS PRODUCT MODEL COULD CAUSEDIFFERENCES IN THE SAR VALUE FOR LATERPRODUCTS; IN ALL CASES, PRODUCTS AREDESIGNED TO BE WITHIN THE GUIDELINES
AntennaCare
Use only the supplied or an approvedreplacement antenna Unauthorized
antennas, modications, or attachmentscould damage the phone and may violategovernment regulations When using remotemount antenna, mount antenna at least 20cm away from the user Also when using aremote mount antenna in order to reducepotential radio interference to other users, the antenna type and its gain should be so
chosen such that the equivalent isotropicallyradiated power (eirp) is not more than thatpermitted for successful communication
PhoneOperation
Normal OperationHold the phone as you would any other
telephone Fully extend the antenna then
rotate the antenna to either the left or rightdetent The antenna should be vertical to theground and have a clear unobstructed view ofthe sky

Batteries
Risk of explosion if battery is replacedby an incorrect type Dispose of usedbatteries according to instructions onpage 45
All batteries can cause propertydamage, injury or burns if a
conductive material, such as jewelry, keys or beaded chains, touchesexposed terminals The material maycomplete an electrical circuit andbecome quite hot To protect againstsuch unwanted current drain, exercisecare in handling any charged battery,
particularly when placing it insideyour pocket, purse or other containerwith metal objects
WARNING!!
Tips on Efcient OperationFor your phone to operate most efciently:

PacemakersThe Health Industry Manufacturers Associationrecommends that a minimum separation of sixinches (6) be maintained between a handheldwireless phone and a pacemaker to avoid potentialinterference with the pacemaker Theserecommendations are consistent with the
independent research by and recommendations ofWireless Technology Research
Persons with pacemakers:
Should ALWAYS keep the phone more thansix inches from their pacemaker when thephone is turned ON
Should not carry the phone in a breast pocketShould use the ear opposite the pacemakerto minimize the potential for interference
