Curator is the advanced tapeless workfl ow solution that brings your media, associated metadata and advanced workfl ow tools together, all at the right time, at your users’ desktops.

SpectreView products enable our development partners to provide advanced low bit-rate proxy browse solutions for use within newsroom, scheduling, automation, media asset management and subtitling or captioning environments.

Teragator enables users to fi nd available media assets across the enterprise using semantic data mining that explores relationships between those assets. It removes the guesswork from searching.

Process Engine enables even more automation of multiple media workfl ows by providing user programmable processes with full monitoring and notifi cations of progress, completion and any issues throughout the process.

Ingest

IPV’s hardware accelerated transcoders – 1U 2channel box supports live transcode of SD or HD growing media from multiple server devices to create WM9 VC1 proxy media at SIF or D1. Features include multiple language track support, burn in picture timecode & logo insertion.

For sites with multiple XCodes, XCode Manager enables job submission prioritisation and load balancing via a web services interface for maximum effi ciencies and throughput.

NSpectre encoders enable up to 4 channels of SDI ‘live’ encoding per 1U box. For remote monitoring NStream devices allow live streaming of up to 4 SDI streams per unit through HTTP MMS protocols.

Serve

Curator SpectreView Streaming server – supports hundreds of user controlled streams to provide an unparalleled user experience at the desktop. A SilverLight client is offered for cross platform web browser integration as well as existing COM and JAVA based API calls.

Manage

Curator manages all your incoming and archive media enabling automated and manual metadata addition, storyboarding, closed caption extraction, browse & search, rough cut edit and EDL export to your chosen NLE.

Edit

As well as clip selection and rough cut editing Curator and SpectreView directly interface with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 to enable advanced proxy editing in a ‘live’ streaming environment.

Publish

Utilising the IPV Process Engine and the AME Conform Engine automation of the High Resolution edit into the chosen format to a specifi c location is made possible bypassing the Online edit altogether.

Design & Automate

The IPV Process Engine comes with a set of pre-defi ned activities to control IPV and third party devices in typical workfl ow scenarios. Additional activities can be designed to create unique workfl ows all with user defi nable parameters via a web services interface.

Mine, Federate & Analyse

Teragator, provides business analytics through semantic metadata mining and relationship linking between disparate data sources. A web based GUI allows easy addition of data sources without changing schema or the requirement of bespoke development to federate content management data and for example, ratings data.

What is Curator?IPV’s Curator system is an affordable proxy-based real-time Media Asset Management solution designed to assist broadcasters in meeting their critical sports, news and archive requirements. Curator allows communities of media professionals to achieve collaborative workfl ows in a fast paced, live production environment ensuring immediate access to all incoming media and archive content.

What does Curator do? Curator is designed to add value to your content and enable users to effi ciently fulfi l tasks such as desktop browsing, media annotation, editing, review and approval. Use CasesSportsAs a broadcaster with rights to a major sports franchise, multiple feeds are coming in to the ingest server, and a large number of users – editors, producers, loggers, archivists – need to have immediate and simultaneous access. That is a challenge, which needs a new approach to tackle effectively and economically.

The key is to provide a tight integration between the online video server and full resolution content, a proxy browse system and the metadata which is used to route the content to enable it to be found later. In other words, a compact and fl exible asset management system with Live access, that is tailored to a specifi c task and not trying to be all things to all parts of an enterprise.

News To generate a combination of Sports and News programming with fast turnaround times and the rapid re-purposing of content for different delivery platforms and countries, broadcasters need a sophisticated browse system that will mirror all high-resolution content, creating low-bitrate media from both incoming live video feeds and recorded or growing fi le based media. A further challenge is to provide browse media assets that support multiple-language versions and high-quality resolution video. All of this is required to be accessed by multiple users simultaneously using networked PC’s, and the users’ viewing capability that far exceeds traditional tape-like transport.

ArchiveAs digital workfl ows continue to expand throughout the industry online content grows with it. Spinning disk can be costly to maintain with heat generating and cooling power consumption. Security is also an issue and therefore off-site backups become essential. Nearline and offl ine LTO offers an obvious advantage but many HSM manufacturers are not focused on providing a fully interactive window into this archive and therefore moving content offl ine can slow you down and discourage users from exploring the archive. What is required is an online fully accessible copy of the media that can be retrieved, viewed and used in an edit before the original High Resolution asset is restored.
