Iowa Junior Red Angus Association Auction ItemsAuction Items
What a year for our juniors! We continue to grow and our juniors continue to make a positive impact both in the show ring and in the beef industry. Our 2nd Field day show was held at the Hansen Learning Center in Ames. We had 30 entries and had a great time. The super cooperation between the Simmental and Red Angus communities was on display when the Simmental juniors sponsored the hot beef sundae’s for Saturday night and the Red Angus juniors hosted the biscuit and gravy breakfast on Sunday morning. We hope to continue the partnership and grow this into a great weekend event. Our state fair was competitive as always. Our juniors never cease to amaze me with their great cattle and their even greater leadership and public relation skills. I receive many compliments on how our juniors portray themselves and their cattle, so a big thank you to the juniors and their families! This year we awarded the 2nd annual “Spirit of the Reds” award. The award is given by an anonymous adult committee to a junior member who demonstrates superior character, work ethic and a cheerful attitude. This year the award went to Jennel Wendt and Brady Edge. These two are fine examples of what our junior program represent!
During 2014, our junior association awarded close to $4,000 in awards and scholarships. This would not be possible without the support of businesses and Red Angus breeders who believe that our future as a Red Angus breed and as an agricultural community truly depends on our juniors. The items listed have all been donated and 100% of the money goes directly to the juniors for awards and scholarships. Without the donors and the purchasers, our program would not exist on the level that it does today. We are looking forward to 2017 when Iowa will host the National Red Angus junior show. We expect many juniors from across the nation to attend and we are going to show the nation what fabulous hosts we can be! I would encourage everyone to look at the list and support those businesses and breeders who by purchasing or by donating are supporting our local junior program. If you would like to bid on any of the items, please call Jennifer Gardner, 641-895-4116. Some of the items will be auctioned right before the live auction and will be able to be bid on via the internet. To view a complete line up of photos of the items, please go to www.iowaredangus.com or to the Iowa Junior Red Angus Facebook page.

On behalf of Ruble Cattle Services and the Iowa Red Angus Association we would like to welcome you to this year’s Red Angus Classic Sale. Interest in the Red Angus Breed continues to grow because they flat out work in all segments of the Beef Industry. We’ve seen record cattle prices the last few years and in our opinion it’s only going to get better. The Iowa Red Angus Association has made some changes to this year’s sale and we are thankful for the opportunity to work with them in this joint project. The consigners have really put a nice set of cattle and genetics together for this year’s sale. We have lots of high quality bulls, fancy open heifers, bred heifers, and breed leading genetic lots. We hope to see you at the Iowa Beef Expo but if you can’t attend please feel free to contact a member of our marketing team and we will help you in any way that we can.
• B26 is a deep bodied broody February born female that is worth looking up sale day. She carries a balanced set of EPD’s. Her birth to yearling spread of -4.6 to +85 puts her birth to weaning ratio at 84 to 105. B26’s sire, KCC Pinnacle 949-109, is considered by many one of HXC Conquest’s better sons. B26’s dam, MISS MFIN X2, is a picture perfect cow with an MPPA of 103.1. Mark B26 high on your list! MFIN MISS B29Lot2
• If you are looking for that good solid future cow prospect take a look at B29. B29 is the type of female, whether you are in the seed stock business, selling replacements, or that farmer/rancher that wants heavy calves at weaning time, you need to consider taking home. B29 has outstanding performance EPD’s: -0.9 for birth, +74 for weaning (top 6%) + 117 for yearling (top 5%). B29’s sire, FRITZ Justice 8013 - Accelerated Genetics growth leader, has done a consistent job of producing good calves for us here at our farm. B29’s dam is loaded with solid pedigree cattle. We here at Finch Cattle think she will make a great cow in the near future.
• SHOW HEIFER ALERT! DONOR COW ALERT! Granddam is the one and only WCC Phyllis 47 cow. The progeny and the dollars she has generated for the Kurt Rich family has been outstanding. B45’s dam, RRA PHYLLIS 47 108, sired by the great Canadian bull, RED FINE LINE MULBERRY 26P, was bought by us through the Mulberry Mayhem sale in Emporia KS. as a sale high light. Her first calf ended up being our high selling bull last year. Needless to say, she has developed into everything we had hoped for. B45’s sire, RED SSS Oly 554T, sired the high selling female at last years expo selling for $15,000 which was a direct daughter of the Phyliss 47 cow. B45 is outstanding in genetic makeup. There is not much more I can say than SHE NEEDS TO BE BOUGHT!

• 461 has some really stand by genetics. The New Trend Mulberry has been one of the great no miss Canadian matings going. He is a definite herd builder top 17%, top 13% for WW & top 9% YW. A weaning of 794 & only 88 lbs BW. His dam 914 has an MPPA of 102.4 She also raised a great open heifer that we sold at the 2012 Iowa Beef Expo to Chase Pladsen for $5,000 and has done a great job for him. These New Trend cattle have been great females; real cows! New Trend semen is hard to come by. Here is a young bull that is ready to go.

GNRA MISS BLACKBERRY 456Lot5Consigned by // Griffin Red Angus
• This March open heifer is out of our Blackberry 063 bull which has done a super job in our herd. He makes great replacement females. He is a black red carrier, so this red heifer is a great outcross that will be a great herd builder for your cow herd. Blackberry is no longer with us, so this will be his last natural calves to be offered. On the dam side the Copper Queen line is and has always been a go to blood line that never misses. 456 will do a great job in the pasture and would make a great junior project that could be your show heifer prospect.
• 408B is a natural daughter of our donor dam Six Mile Flower 8465 cow that was owned with Paul’s Angus Farm and Ravenscroft Red Angus. Flower has given me several daughters and this is the finest Solitaire calf we have seen. She is a very well balanced female and slightly more moderate than her mother. Flower is now working for Reid Stranberg, Rafter RS Cattle in Buffalo, SD. Take a very close look here she has the potential to land in your donor pen. I may be regretting to sell her.
• 417B has weaning weight of 607 and a ratio of 113. Her dam carries a MPPA of 102.7. Her sire is our herd bull we purchased from Six Mile and he has done exactly what we wanted him to. He sires daughters with well-balanced udders and perfect teat size. We expect nothing more or less with this mating. Her dam is a Lancer daughter and goes back to some old Canadian genetics. This calf is one of her best today.

You will want to keep his daughters.
• Retaining 50% semen interest and selling with 100 units of semen.• 327A was used as cleaned up on a few spring and fall calving cows. We are retaining 50% semen interest and selling with 100 units of semen. We think a lot of this bull. He has a pedigree that is stacked full of some breed changing cows. Starting with his sire Momentum whose dam is the famous Soo Line Baneberry 5238, which is one of the Wildcat’s top donor dams and goes back to the cow with a beautiful udder and teat size. She has a 105.1 MPPA. She carries New Trend and Bonnebell 7G cow the mother of UBAR High Capacity 224. The 5L Signiture is a maternal grandsire along with the Black Angus B04 Connealy Frontline. If you like moderate cattle with low birth weight, this one’s for you. She combines some very unique genetics. I feel she will make a tremendous cow.

• AI’d to Brown Paramount Z1706 on 7/27/2014. Due May 5, 2015. • This female sired by Pacific Pride has the makings to be super good cow. Dark cherry red in color with the capacity, mass and bone to run with the best of them. She has the makings of a real front pasture type cow. She is a very easy keeping female with longevity and the potential to produce functional bulls and females. We purchased her dam from the Leachman program at the 2007 National Western Sale as a 6 year old cow and she went on to put 4 bulls in the commercial herd, two females in our Purebred herd and still raised a calf as a 13 year old cow. This female won’t take long to return her investment.

• AI’d to Brown Paramount Z1706 on 7/2/2014. Due April 10, 2015. • Moving forward in 2015 and beyond we have made the decision to place more focus on our commercial herd. Because of that we have decided to offer many females from the heart of our purebred herd for sale. This 4 year old cow is out of the great Tarmily cow at DAMAR, making her a maternal sister to one of the top cows in the Red Angus Breed, DAMAR Mimi. Just ask Ennis how good this cow family really is! A Mimi daughter just won the 2014 Iowa State Fair. This cow, sired by Red Ter-Ron Real Deal 01W is one of the biggest boned and footed females we have on the place. Her first two calves were sold as commercial herd bulls in our spring sale. Looking over our herd the Sofie cow is one of the most beautiful, but massive and powerful females we own. Following a show career where she went undefeated in class and division wins at Iowa State Fair, NAJRAE, and Ft. Worth x 2. Her mating to PIE Code Red produced the best true show female we have ever presented in Marilyn 7152. Marilyn was the lead-off female in our 2013 show string with Reserve Division Championships in Ft. Worth x 2, NAJRAE x 2, and ISF x 2 before capping it off as the 2014 Reserve National Champion Bred & Owned Female. She then went on to produce a member of our pen of 3 heifers exhibited in Denver. These “Code Red” females are truly some of the best in the breed from both a show and production standpoint.
