Invited is a series of short films that seek to explore what it means to engage in genuine, Christian invitation. Table explores the invitation that we’ve all received in Jesus as the starting place for all of our conversations about invitation. Probing connections between the Lord’s table and our dinner tables, we question whether or not the extraordinary can be found tucked inside of the ordinary. What if the most exciting thing about us is that we’ve been invited?

“And it was like me and my old t-shirt and my bag heavy with apples

and this run of the mill sunset were all caught up into another world, just for a few moments  simply because of who I was with.”

Have you ever had an experience like this?

When?

But when Jesus breaks bread with his disciples, something different happens. Somehow that very same,

plain, ordinary bread,

Jesus says it’s his body -

  broken, given for us.

Like, suddenly bread isn’t just bread anymore. In the company of Jesus, our daily bread becomes the bread of heaven.

Have you ever felt like God was reaching out to you, inviting you in?

And our tangible and physical eating of the bread becomes this moment of connection with Jesus. He in us, and we in him.

Is there a connection between the dinner table and the communion table?

Who do we break bread with?

They say that some people used to call Jesus a drunkard and a glutton, because you could always count on finding him at the dinner table.

Can’t you still?

Isn’t he still at the table, inviting us into this meal that’s so obviously ordinary and at the same time a window into a different world.

What if the most important thing about me,and about you,

is that

we’re invited?

Invited is a series of short films that seek to explore what it means to engage in genuine, Christian invitation. We begin with the conviction that invitation is at the very heart of the Gospel – that Jesus invites each one of us to come and follow him, and being an invitational people is at the very core of our identity as Christians. From there, we offer thoughts, images and dreams – and we hope that you’ll join the conversation.
