Investing in our communities and families continues to be one of the guiding principles of electric cooperatives across the country. Since 1997, your Cooperative’s Education Foundation has awarded 1,644 college scholarships with a potential payout of over $9.7 million. The recipients of these scholarships can attend any in-state, regionally accredited college, university or technical school. The Cooperative funds this worthwhile program using abandoned Capital Credits that would otherwise be forfeited to the State of Florida as abandoned property. Dear WREC Education Foundation, My lifelong dream of attending college to serve my community and pursue a career in public service law enforcement is coming true thanks to your generous donation. Since be- ing named one of the recipients of the WREC Educational Foundation, Inc. scholarship, my dream is becoming a reality at Pasco Hernando State College. The $10,000 award gives me an opportunity to earn skills that serve the com- munity following graduation to continue to achieve my goals. Thank you personally for your generosity. Each Applicant Must...• Beahighschoolseniorandmaintainaminimum2.0GPA.• Beabona-fideresidentwithintheserviceareaofWithlacoocheeRiver ElectricCooperative,Inc.,“WREC”foratleastoneyearpriortoDecember31.• BethedependentofaWRECMember.• Plantoattendanin-statecollege,universityortechnicalschoolfull-time(minimum of 12 credit hours per semester).*• Maintaina2.0GPAeachsemester(orhigherifmandatedbytheinstitution)tomaintaineligibility.

Eachsuccessfulcandidatewillreceive$1,375persemester(maximum$11,000)forundergraduatestud-ies.ThescreeningandrecommendationofcandidateswillbeatthediscretionofacommitteedesignatedbyWREC.Application forms will be available after December 1, 2016, at your high school guidance office, any WREC district office or online at www.wrec.net.

Completed applications must be mailed to WREC headquarter’s office and postmarked no later than March 3, 2017.

NOTE: Funds used for Scholarships would otherwise be forfeited to the State of Florida.Scholarship funds are acquired through unclaimed Capital Credits and cannot be used for other purposes.

*Schools must be accredited by one of the six regional accrediting institutions, such as SACS, recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation.If the institution is a technical school, it should be accredited by the Council on Occupational Education or its equivalent.

Street Light RepairRequest Form.

Students are selected in their senior year of high school by local guidance counselors and

Cooperative personnel. Applications will be available after December 1, 2016 and must be

postmarked no later than March 3, 2017. Scholarship applications can be obtained at any

local Cooperative office, high school guidance office or online at www.wrec.net .
