1. Why would an institution want to publish more than one music magazine?

This way they can gain more awareness and create a wider audience for their magazines. It therefore produces more money for the institution, and with many different genre’s it attracts different types of readers.

2. What are the advantages for a company of offering their audiences cross-media links?

If the company has more than one product, they can advertise them on different websites. This can attract more readers, as it is quick and easy to click a link. This allows the advertisers to target the audience of the magazine.

QUESTIONS

3. Why is the study of institutions useful?

The study of institution is useful because it teaches people how much effort goes into making the magazines for them to read. It also shows the wider scale of magazines, instead of just one point of view. It may interest people if an institution has millions of subscribers, and they could therefore buy the magazine themselves.

4. What do you understand by the term “cross-media platforms”?

Technology is a big part of today’s generation, and mobiles can be easy access to almost anything. The company can download their magazines on websites, ipad apps or mobiles. Therefore, company’s can promote their products through many different types of media to attract a wider audience. If people don’t particularly enjoy going out to buy a magazine, then they can simply download it. It also makes people aware of their products, so audiences are interested in buying it next time they are shopping. Older generations could prefer to buy a magazine, where as a younger generation would download one.
