About the ULS• Life science core facility established in 2015

Online Booking System• To be implemented progressively from March 2017 to
most ULS equipment
• Bookings will have to be made via the ULS webpage
• Wave your student/staff card on the card reader to sign
in and out for your session
• Charges will be calculated automatically
Procedure to Start Using ULS Equipment• Register for the ULS online booking system via the ULS
webpage (https://uls.polyu.edu.hk)
• Register for an equipment training session , and return
the Online Booking System Registration Form and
Equipment Access Registration Form during the training
• Complete the required safety courses from HSEO and
departmental safety briefings (where applicable)

Commencement of charging system

Training for New Users• Training for each equipment is to be scheduled once per
month
• Maximum 5 users per session; additional session(s) to
be arranged if demand is high
• Training for some equipment is to be requested by
General Regulations• ULS equipment is solely available to registered and
authorised users
• Booking will be available 15 days in advance
• Booking limit will be imposed for some of the
equipment
• Penalties for inpunctuality, overtime usage and no-show
General Regulations• The ULS reserves the right to suspend users’ accounts
due to misuse, misconduct or unsettled charges
• Sign the logsheet (with readable writings) after each
use
• Report any damage or malfunction to the ULS
• Abide to the university and departmental safety
regulations
Acknowledging the ULS• As the use of ULS equipment is heavily subsidised, users
are required to acknowledge the ULS in their
publications
• The statistics is important for securing funding for the
running of the ULS and acquisition of new equipment
• Credits for equipment usage will be awarded
