Phase II – Key outputs so far

Great Expectations: The cost of offshore wind in UK waters

Understanding the past and projecting

the future

Energy from biomass: the size of the global resource

Assessment of the evidence that biomass can make a

major contribution to future global energy supply

Transport: What policies are effective at reducing carbon emissions from

surface passenger transport?

Page 11: Introduction to the UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC)

Phase II – Key outputs so far

Carbon Capture and Storage: Realising the potential?

Assesses the technical, economic, financial and social uncertainties

facing CCS technologies.

Carbon Emissions Accounting

A method of estimating a nation’s carbon emissions taking into account emissions related

to shipping, aviation and those that are embedded in imported goods and services.

Page 12: Introduction to the UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC)

Major outputs to come

1. Quantifying impact of global changes on the energy market

2. Energy futures under uncertainty

Both projects focus on decisions and policy implementation up to 2030, tying in with the UK and international community’s longer-term energy and climate change objectives and ambitions.
