• Generic Names Supporting Organization • GNSO is responsible for policy development related
to generic Top Level Domain (e.g. .com, .net, .info, .museum, .pro)
• 21 Councilors from 6 different constituencies / Stakeholder Groups & Nom Com appointees

GNSO Council - How do we work?

• Manager of the policy development process (PDP)
• Meetings usually once per month -Typically two hours
• Decisions typically made through formal motions. Submitted 10 days in advance of a meeting
• Policy work undertaken in working groups which are open to anyone interested (not limited to GNSO Council or GNSO)

GNSO Council - How do we work?

• Councilors expected to attend every Council meeting. Attendance is recorded.
• If a Council member cannot attend a meeting, he/she must inform the GNSO Secretariat before the meeting.
• Proxy / Alternates may be appointed in case of absence.
• Council members spend, on average, 2–10 hours per week on Council work.
• Intensity increases as each of ICANN's three annual public meetings approaches.
