This book attempts to cover O’level (Form three and four) topics in forestry , Bee keeping and fish production as stipulated in a new agricultural science syllabus of 1997. Although this book has written primarily for O'level Agricultural Secondary Schools, it can be useful to Advanced level secondary schools and teachers’ colleges biased in agriculture, not only in Tanzania but also in other countries such as , Botswana, Nigeria, Ghana, Malawi, Kenya and Uganda where agricultural science subject is taught in junior and senior secondary schools. Students in Forestry, training institute, projects in tree planting, bee keeping , fish production as well as farmers will find this book as their guidance.

INTRODUCTION
The problem facing teachers and students in Tanzanian agricultural secondary schools is lack of text books to cover agricultural science syllabus for natural resources which comprises Forestry , Bee keeping and Fish Production . This book attempts to cover Level (Form three and four) topics in forestry , Bee keeping and fish production as stipulated in a new agricultural science Syllabus of 2019. Although this book has written primarily for Level agricultural secondary schools . It will be useful to advanced level secondary schools and teachers’ colleges biased in agriculture, not only in Tanza- nia but also in other countries such as , Botswana, Nigeria, Ghana, Malawi, Kenya and Uganda where agricultural science subject is taught in junior and senior secondary schools. Students in For- estry, training institute, projects in tree planting, bee keeping , fish production as well as farmers will find this book as their guidance. The book consists of three main chapters: Chapter I presents , forestry and forestry products, intro- duction to forestry, value, importance and the potential of forestry as raw material for economic de- velopment of Tanzania. Also the chapter involves factors affecting forestry production, familiariza- tion to some local and exotic tree species and their values, tending operations and planning and man- agement of forests. Like wise ,in this chapter the notion of Agro-forestry has been included and dis- cussed in the context of meaning, potentiality, limitations, cultural practices in agro forestry as well as compatible agro forestry trees mixture species that can be raised in an agricultural production farm. Chapter II presents, bee keeping , importance and potential of bee keeping industry, traditional and modern methods of beekeeping in Tanzania. Also it outlines different types of bees found in Tanza- nia, simple bee hives construction, bee management, apiary protection, bee diseases and pests and their control. Chapter III presents fish farming and its importance, pond construction, fish pond management, com- mon fish found in Tanzania and fish harvesting, processing and preservation. At the end of each chapter there are study questions which will help the learners to grasp the contents of the book. I hope that this book will serve the purpose it is written and teachers and students of agriculture will find it to be quite useful. Sumbawanga , Tanzania. ABOUT THE AUTHOR
William Nathan Mwaisumo is a Teacher of Agriculture and a Devel-
opment Practitioner working and residing in Sumbawanga,
Tanzania. Born In Kyela District and went To Galanos Agricultural
Secondary School-Tanga, he then Studied Agriculture at MARTI- UYOLE in Mbeya
and later received his teaching and pedagogical skills from Monduli Teachers’
College,Arusha. He also Studied Adult Education and Community Development at IAE
-Dar es Salaam and Educational Planning and Administration at Jordan University
College. He further obtained Certificates in Land Use Design-Permaculture
(Malawi), Sustainable Human Development (Central European University-Hungary),
Access and Benefit Sharing of Genetic Products (Strathmore University-Kenya),
Community Driven Development (BV-PTC-India) and Food Security at The CDI-
Wageningen University in The Netherlands. For several years he taught Agricul-
tural Science at Kyela and Mtipe Secondary Schools. Currently, he is working
with the Regional Education & Vocational Training Section in Rukwa, Tanzania.
