Introduction

• EndNote is a commercial software package, used to manage bibliographies

and references articles. It is produced by Thomson Reuters.

• Generally it requires different styles for different journals.

• It is very cumbersome and difficult to check the errors committed.

• So using of some software's like Mendeley, End note, Aigaion would reduce

the physical pain.

• Reference Manager like wise total 31 software's are available till now

• Out of which 24 software's are freely available

Ways to get references into your EndNote

Library

• From a Online Database Search (Academic Search Premier; library catalog and more) 1) search 2) mark 3) export references to EndNote

• Manually enter information into EndNote (adding non-electronic sources to EndNote: print, interviews, exhibits, your notes, etc.)

• From EndNote by direct export and importing files : 1) search 2) mark 3) import and export references into EndNote

How to insert a citation /reference

• Open EndNote by clicking on the icon in the word .

• Before you do any research, create an EndNote Library

• Now use EndNote for bibliographies, in citing footnotes or endnotes.

• Download the file, most of the cases it will be .ris format

• Select Output style (APA,CPL,APL etc.)

Instructions and steps to use ENDNOTE

• Open a word file.

• Go for endnote search option and it will pop up a window

• Go to the link of the paper and click ‘export’ option for article

• Download the file, most of the cases it will be .ris format

• So now update the library of your endnote

• Search for either title or author name and choose ‘citation style’ you wish to

submit.

Instructions and steps for using ENDNOTE

• Now if by chance you have given wrong reference clickedit and manage citations.

• Select the reference and click insert ,now reference isadded.

• Finally select the option you update bibliography

• Check for the errors.

Tips and Summary

• EndNote organizes citations from journals, books, government

sources, websites and databases saved during research.

• Every time while you download a paper, download .ris file format.

• This reduces the pain and time.

• Develop the habit of using EndNote while writing monthly reports.

• Back up your EndNote Libraries.
