What is Digital Marketing

Digital marketing is marketing that makes use of electronic devices (computers) such as personal computers, smartphones, cellphones, tablets TV and game consoles to engage with stakeholders. A component of Digital marketing is Digital Brand Engagement. Digital marketing applies technologies or platforms such as websites, e-mail, apps (classic and mobile) and social networks. Digital Marketing can be through Non-internet channels like TV, Radio, SMS, etc or through Internet channels like Social Media, E-mails ads, Banner ads, etc. Social Media Marketing is a componentof digital marketing. Many organizations use a combination of traditional and digital marketing channels; however, digital marketing is becoming more popular with marketers as it allows them to target and track many aspects[1] including their Return on Investment (ROI) more accurately compared to other traditional marketing channels.REF(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_marketing)

Search Engine Optimaztion - SEO

Search Engine Optimization is the process of improving the visibility of a website on organic ("natural" or un-paid) search engine result pages (SERPs), by incorpo-rating search engine friendly elements into a website. A successful search engine optimization campaign will have, as part of the improvements, carefully select, relevant, keywords which the on-page optimization will be designed to make prominent for search engine algorithms. Search engine optimization is broken down into two basic areas: on-page, and o�-page optimization. On-page optimization refers to website ele-ments which comprise a web page, such as HTML code, textual content, and images. O�-page optimization refers, predominantly, to backlinks (links pointing to the site which is being optimized, from other relevant websites).

Social media marketing is the process of gaining website tra�c or attention through social media sites. Social media marketing programs usually center on e�orts to create content that attracts attention and encour-ages readers to share it across their social networks. The resulting electronic word of mouth refers to any statement consumers share via the Internet about an event, prod-uct, service, brand or company. When the underlying message spreads from user to user and presumably resonates because it appears to come from a trusted, third-party source, as opposed to the brand or company itself, this form of marketing results in earned media rather than paid media.

Search engine marketing de�nition: Marketing to internet users through natural search engine result page listings and paid advertising placement.

Search engine marketing is a multi-billion industry spearheaded by Google, Bing, and Yahoo that is often broken down to two segments - free (organic) and paid (inorganic) search. Free search engine marketing, or search engine optimization (SEO), uses on-page and o�-page strategies to help search engines better under-stand the relative importance of a website's pages. Search engine adver-tising, of pay per click (PPC) advertis-ing, are advertising platforms search engines provide to advertisers to place their ads. Due to the growing demand and complex nature of "search," as search engine marketing �rms would like to say, it's often hard to determine good SEO/PPC experts from bad SEO/PPC snakeoil salesmen.
