Patologi : Pathos (penyakit) dan Logos (ilmu)

Patologi merupakan disiplin ilmu yangmenghubungkan ilmu kedokteran dasar danklinis, mempelajari proses suatu penyakit,mempelajari perubahan struktur dan

fungsional sel, jaringan dan organ yangmendasari suatu penyakit

Patologi :

General Pathology: mempelajari reaksi dasar yang

terjadi pada sel dan jaringan terhadap stimulusabnormal yang mendasari penyakit.

Special / systemic Pathology: mempelajari respons

spesifik jaringan atau organ tertentu terhadap

stimulus.

Patologi kali pertama oleh Celsus yang

mempublikasikan suatu penyakit Morgagni abad

18 Virchow menjelaskan penyakit denganperubahan seluler (pertengahan abad 19) semua

penyakit fokus pada abnormallitas perilaku sel

Empat aspek penyakit yang dipelajari dalam patologi:

Etiologi or cause

pathogenesis

Etiologi: penyebab, dibagi 2:

Intrinsik atau genetik

didapat (acquired)

Pathogenesis: urutan terjadinya respons sel atau jaringanterhadap suatu agent penyebab, mulai dari stimulus awalsampai timbulnya suatu penyakit.

Perubahan Morfologi: perubahan struktural pada sel ataujaringan, yang merupakan karakteristik suatu penyakit.

Manifestasi Klinis: perubahan morfologi yang terjadi padaberbagai jaringan / organ mempengaruhi fungsi danmenentukan gambaran klinis, perjalanan dan prognosissuatu penyakit.
