High-efficiency heat pumps connected through ICT technology have been
introduced to a residential housing area to reduce electricity consumption by
direct control of load timing adjustment and absorption of surplus electricity.
The energy saved using such heat pumps (negawatts) is being aggregated
and traded in the liberalized power market.

• Energy Storage Battery solution is helpful for
High Penetration of Renewables but still costly.
• Combination with consumer cooperation such
as DR can reduce the capacity of Battery
required.
• Accuracy of DR contribution to the grid has to
be considered. Automated control of consumer’s
equipment could be good solution for both of
consumer side and power system side.
