Have endless variations to suit all skill ability levels. Can be used at any setting e.g. clubs, centres and schools. Are all safe. Can allow participants to experience higher demands in cardio exercise which is in line with greater health and wellbeing outcomes. No more long lines or sitting out. Higher level of skill repetition for more advanced level of skill development. In line with ACARA. Have been backed from the AIS and ACHPER. No use of tees.

The safety of the participants is the highest priority. Get the participants to learn by doing. The explanation of each activity is brief. Cater for the individual needs. Inspire the participants to work on something at home. Use Cricket language when speaking and educating the participants. ‘CHANGE IT’

When observing the activity, participants and responses, think about the following 6 questions?1) Is the activity safe?2) Are the participants engaged and having fun?3) Is the activity running ok?4) Do the participants understand what is going on?5) Is the activity appropriate for the skill ability level of the

participants?6) Are the participants being challenged for greater skill

development?If the answer is no to one of the above 6 questions CHANGE IT.

10mins PREPARE TO PERFORM (WARM UPS)

CAPTAIN’S LOCOMOTION CALLParticipants learn various fielding positions whilst taking part in a warm up activity that consists of locomotion movements, balance, coordination and other basic movement patterns.

YES NO WAITThe activity is to teach participants on how to communicate when running between wickets. It can also take part as a warm up activity or prepare to perform activity in under the physical discipline.

CRICKET CIRCUITThe activity is to further develop fundamental motor skills and basic movement patterns whilst having the element of cricket related skills within the circuit.

DERBY CONES (6ERS VS THUNDER)Replicating the movement patterns of fielding.

10mins TAKE WICKETSPACE BOWLING & SPIN BOWLING

LOB THE BALLThis is a fun and engaging bowling activity which teaches the participants about where to land the ball whilst keeping their arm straight.

GATE BOWLINGThis activity teaches the basics in skill development in bowling and movement patterns and progressions towards bowling. There are 7 phases and endless variations to add on games and competitions.

RAPID FIRE BOWLINGThis activity is a progression from lob the ball and gate bowling. It teaches the participants to learn about the area they need to land the ball when bowling.

KNOCK EM DOWN – BUILD EM UPThis activity has the participants engaged with a competition where groups race against each other by getting the ball to land between the two ropes before hitting the stumps.

10mins SCORING RUNS

4 CORNERSThis activity allows the participants to watch the ball and move according to the line/length of the ball. Change it and allow the ball to bounce twice so participants learn to move on their back which replicates footwork for back foot shots.

ROUND UP THE SHEEPThis activity teaches the basics in batting. Identifying that participants grip is correct, watching the ball, move according to the line/length of the ball, and controlling the ball with a bat.Safety is important – there is no free swinging of the bat in this activity.

CRAFT FOR SCORING RUNSThis activity teaches the basics in batting. Watch the ball, move according to the line/length of the ball and have a free swing of the bat.

TARGET BATTINGTeaching the basics of batting and allowing the participants plenty of skill repetition by hitting a moving ball.
