COMPANY OPERATIONS • We operate 2 shifts within the warehouse area.

The day shift is primarily involved with the receiving, picking, reworking and despatching of goods. Whilst the nightshift is involved with stock replenishment to the active warehouse.

• Management & administration staff, including sales and warehouse staff primarily work to normal business operating hours.

• Your manager will confirm your hours of work with you.

• Access on site for all employees is via reception or the main warehouse entrance.

• Time clocks are situated in both locations.

• The Site Manager permits no children under the age of 16 on site without prior authorisation.

ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY INDUCTION REQUIREMENT

All new employees, or staff undergoing a change in their role, must undergo a Staff OHS Induction. (Reference BRANDSSAFE 2-6-001 Training Procedure).

The purpose of our Staff OHS Induction is to raise Environmental, Health and Safety awareness to all employees at our site. Our aim is to work positively towards Environmental, Health and Safety best practice.To that end, it is necessary for all employees, contractors and visitors to understand and comply with Pacific Brands policies and procedures.

VEHICLES

• Queensland road laws apply on site. The speed limit on site is 8 kph and seat belts are to be worn where fitted. Pedestrians always have the right of way.

• On site there are two designated car-parking areas – one at the front of the building and the other at the rear of the building. Vehicles are to be parked in one of these areas.

• Toilets, washing facilities and drinking water are located throughout the site. You will be shown the nearest location of these facilities in relation to your work area during your induction to site.

• Access to the bulk warehouse, where mobile plant is operating is prohibited unless authorisation has been given.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES • On induction to site new employees will be given a copy of our

Emergency and Fire Evacuation Guide - NEWSAFE E003, this booklet includes general emergency information, procedures and the site emergency map. You will also be required to a view a presentation outlining our procedures.

• Emergency exits and fire fighting equipment are located throughout the building. All equipment and exits are signed for ease of identification. You will be familiarised with the nearest location exits and equipment when inducted to site. Fire fighting equipment should only be used if you are trained in its use and it is safe to do so.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES CONT.• We have a trained team of staff who will respond in the event

of an emergency – the Emergency Control Organisation (ECO). You will be advised of the area wardens in the area in which you are working during your site induction.

• Should an emergency situation arise directions given by the ECO must be followed at all times.

• Our training provider Queensland Fire & Rescue Service provide training to all staff in the use of fire equipment and general information about emergency procedures. You will be required to attend the next scheduled training session.

FIRST AID• First aid treatment is available to all employees on

site. Contacting one of our trained first aiders throughout the site can provide this service. After treatment they will request that you fill in an incident report for our records. All injuries, including first aid, are to be reported to your Manager/Supervisor.

• First aid facilities are available from the first aid room opposite the canteen. Emergency response first aid kits are available at reception and at the main warehouse entry; these kits are for emergency response use only.

• Contact details for first aid personnel in your work area is provided in the Emergency and Fire Evacuation Guide - NEWSAFE E003. Photographs of all first aiders can be found on the OHS notice boards.

• There are 2 main OHS noticeboard areas, one is opposite the canteen, and the other is in the hallway between the bulk and active warehouse. An additional small noticeboard also exists in the administration area at the front of the building.

• Relevant OHS information/communication will posted on these boards. The First Aid Room also holds copies of current manuals, procedures and forms.

CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR

• It is compulsory to wear a high visibility outerwear garment in all areas of the warehouse.

• Appropriate enclosed footwear must be worn in the warehouse.

• Please refer to the site uniform and footwear policies for further details.

SMOKING

• Outside tables with umbrellas to the rear left side of the canteen.

• Outside barbecue area at rear of warehouse parking lot.

Employees, visitors and contractors on site are not permitted to smoke in any part of the building.

ALCOHOL AND DRUGS

• Entry will be denied to anyone possessing or under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs. Consummation of alcohol on the site during business hours is not allowed.

ELECTRICAL

• Always use caution when handling any electrical equipment.

• Report any suspected faults or damage to equipment or electrical cords to your supervisor/manager.

• Ensure that electrical cords do not introduce a trip/fall hazard.

GENERAL OHS & CONDUCT RULES

• Observe all posted safety signage.

• Safe work practices and standard operating procedures must be adhered to at all times.

• Pedestrians must use designated walkways.

• All plant and equipment undergoing maintenance, repair, and/or deemed to be potentially hazardous must be isolated, locked-out and tagged.

GENERAL OHS & CONDUCT RULES

• Lockout tags may only be removed by the person who has applied them.

• If you are leaving the site at any time please ensure to advise your supervisor/manager or reception of your absence. In the case of an emergency we need to establish who needs to be accounted for on site.

OHS COMMITTEE • In accordance with BRANDSSAFE Employee Consultation –

Procedure 2-3-001 this site is required to have a OHS Committee given that it is a requirement that all Pacific Brands sites with 20 or more employees have a OHS consultative forum.

• The aim of the OHS Committee is to provide a forum, which allows for a planned and structured cooperation between management and employees, in the development, implementation, and review of policies and procedures to deliver improved management of OHS.

• Committee meetings will be held in the First Aid room at 1.30pm on the first Thursday of every month unless otherwise notified.

OHS COMMITTEE Cont.• Prior to each meeting an agenda outlining the topics to be

discussed will be distributed and posted on the OHS noticeboards. The agenda invites employees to see their OHS representative if they wish to have input into the topics, or raise other safety related issues for discussion in the meeting. The minutes of every meeting are posted on the site OHS noticeboards. All employees are encouraged to read the OHS minutes to keep informed about the current safety issues on site.

• Photographs and designated work area responsibility of the OHS Committee members is posted on the OHS noticeboards.

OHS COORDINATORS

• Should you want advise or assistance in regard to an OHS issue we have on site a dedicated OHS Coordinator, who is also our trained and certified Workplace Health & Safety Officer (WHSO).

• A State OHS Coordinator is also available for consulting in regard to more complex or hazardous issues.

OHS ISSUE RESOLUTION • In all cases safety issues should be reported to

your Manager/Supervisor for their attention and subsequent resolution of. If for any reason you feel that an OHS issue has not been resolved satisfactorily the BRANDSSAFE Issue Resolution - Procedure 2-3-002 exists to ensure an acceptable resolution is reached. Please see your Manager/Supervisor, OHS Committee Representative or the Site OHS Coordinator if you feel an issue has not been resolved satisfactorily.

INCIDENT/HAZARDREPORTING SYSTEM

• An injury (regardless of severity – this includes minor first aid treatment);

• A near hit or high potential of an incident having occurred;• Damage to company, personal property or the

environment.

An incident/hazard report form must be completed for all incidents and identified hazards, including:

Every reported or reportable event is documented and where necessary, fully investigated. Employees who have been involved in, or have witnessed an incident may be required to give a statement as part of the investigation process.

INJURY MANAGEMENT • Pacific Brands and its employees are committed to

effective injury management strategies to ensure that work places are free from hazards and risks to health and safety.

• As required by state legislation we have on site a trained/certified Rehabilitation Coordinator who will assist and monitor workers throughout the rehabilitation process.

• Where injuries or illness occur, employees are assisted in their rehabilitation so that they can make a durable return to meaningful work in the shortest practicable time. Suitable duties will be made available to injured workers that are consistent with medical advice.

HOUSEKEEPING

• We aim to provide a safe, clean and tidy work environment; therefore we place a strong emphasis on good housekeeping practices.

• Housekeeping must be of an appropriate standard and all debris, surplus gear and materials in working areas and surrounds must be cleaned up, disposed of or put away appropriately each day.

• Working areas, stairways, walkways, fire equipment and safety exits must be kept clear of obstructions at all times.

• All materials, gear and debris from elevated locations and platforms must be lowered/brought down and not thrown or dropped down.

MOBILE PLANT • Per Queensland Legislation all Mobile Plant Drivers are required to be licensed.

A copy of licenses will be required for our records. Licenses must be carried at all times whilst working.

• Under no circumstances are unlicensed/unauthorised personnel to use mobile plant.

• A 5 kph speed limit (walking pace) applies to all mobile plant used whilst on site.

• When entering/exiting an aisle or walkway the driver must slow down and sound the horn. Particular care should be taken crossing the pedestrian walkway in the bulk warehouse. Drivers are to stop and check that the walkway is clear prior to crossing.

• All drivers working at heights MUST wear a harness & lanyard fall arrest system.

MOBILE PLANT Cont.• When vehicles, machinery or mobile equipment is not in use, it

must be safely parked where it will not obstruct roadways, aisle ways, exits, emergency equipment, escape routes or pedestrian walkways.

• Mobile plant is NOT allowed in the Active Warehouse or the VA area during normal working shift hours without authorisation from a warehouse manager, who will implement appropriate control measures.

• Only authorised personnel are allowed to re charge Mobile Plant batteries. Drivers should refer to SWP003 & SWP004 for safe work procedures for battery charging and acid spill clean up.

Mobile PlantPlease be aware that there is significant movement of mobile plant within the warehouse area, in particular the bulk warehouse, receiving and despatch areas. Access to the bulk warehouse, where mobile plant is constantly operating is prohibited unless authorisation has been given.

Working at Heights

When working at height persons must be protected against the risk of fall. Depending on the circumstances this may require the erection of guardrails and/or the wearing of a fall arrest system such as a safety harness and lanyard.

SUBSTANCES ON SITE

All substances on site are monitored and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are required for their use/storage. MSDS are kept by area and a full listing of all substances is kept in the first aid room. We do not keep any notifiable quantities of hazardous substances on this site.
