• Idaho Code §33-1201• §33-1201. CERTIFICATE REQUIRED. Every person who is
employed to serve in any elementary or secondary school in the capacity of teacher, supervisor, administrator, education specialist, school nurse or school librarian shall be required to have and to hold a certificate issued under authority of the state board of education, valid for the service being rendered; except that the state board of education may authorize endorsement for use in Idaho, for not more than five (5) years, certificates valid in other states when the qualifications therefor are not lower than those required for an Idaho certificate.

Certification
• If an educator is coded for an assignment for which he/she does not hold the appropriate certificate/endorsement, funding may be withheld from the district/charter for the applicable assignments.
Secondary (5-12 content) 51001 General English/Language Arts (5-12) Topics cover vocabulary, comprehension, word usage, grammar, writing to include the four aspects of language use: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. This assignment may be used for intervention/remediation for English/Language Arts content.
Secondary (5-12 content) 53000 General Science (5-8 content) The organization of subject matter, which usually includes representative topics from the biological, physical and earth sciences. Learning experiences involve pupils observing, exploring, discovering, and experimenting for purposes of achieving understanding of how scientists work and what they know about the universe. General science is primarily studied at the elementary and middle schools, but similar assignments may be taught at the high school level.
This assignment may not be used for specific high school science courses such as biology, chemistry, physics, earth and space science, or physical science.
