Sedimentary

• Layers of sediment, such as silt and sand, compressed over a period of time.

Examples:• Sandstone• Limestone• Mudstone• Shale

Metamorphic

• Originally sedimentary stone, that at some time was exposed to subterranean heat and pressure causing the mineral composition to melt and reform

Examples:• Marble (limestone)• Slate

Igneous

Rock formed from volcanic activity. Larva, molten rock, and conglomerates, particles of rock and minerals fused together.

• Examples:• Basalt (Bluestone)• Granite
