AMCP Foundation / Allergan Plc SPECIALIZED SUMMER NTERNSHIP IN HEALTH OUTCOMES 2020 INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW This internship stimulates student pharmacists’ interest in career options in health outcomes and pharmacoeconomics through exposure to research, measurement and applications to evidence-based decision-making. In addition, the interns will gain knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and managed health care systems, plus complete a rotation at AMCP/ Foundation HQ. Interns, through their work with the Allergan Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research Department, will gain exposure to: This annual internship reflects the commitment of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy Foundation and Allergan Plc to fostering health care leadership through student pharmacist education and to improving the quality of patient care in the managed care pharmacy setting. This program is administered by the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy Foundation. • Each intern will be under the supervision of a preceptor from the Allergan Global HEOR Department. • Interns will complete a HEOR related research project. • Research findings will be presented at AMCP Nexus 2020. RESEARCH PROJECTS • Currently enrolled as a full-time Doctor of Pharmacy degree student in an ACPE-accredited school or college of pharmacy with anticipated graduation in 2021 or 2022. • Candidates must submit an online application, two letters of recommendation and a letter of good academic standing from their institution including cumulative GPA. • Must be eligible for employment in the U.S. INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS • The importance of health outcomes in the development and marketing of a pharmaceutical product • The process of drug discovery • The process of drug development through the various phases of clinical trials • Economic, clinical and humanistic outcomes-measurement techniques • AMCP Format-based product dossier development and its use in the formulary decision-making process.
