• Cyber-bullying: sending or posting harmful material or engaging in other forms of social aggression using the Internet or other digital technologies.

• Cyber-threats: Sending or posting direct threats or distressing material that raises concerns that the person may be considering committing an act of violence against self or others.

What to do if you are a victim of cyberbullying:

• Stop communicating with the bully by not responding to any attacks.

• Block the bully from your contact list.

• Save all written communication for proof.

• Report the bully to your parents and a trusted adult at school.

• Have your parents contact your internet service provider (or cell phone company).

• If necessary contact law enforcement.

How can I protect myself while online?

• Never provide someone with or post personal information on the web.

• Only communicate with people that you know in real life.

o Never meet someone you've met online.

• Report anyone who sends you material that makes you unconformable to your parents or a trusted adult at school.

• Create strong passwords and only share your password(s) with a trusted adult - never give out your password!
