Performance Management portal
• RADview-PM portal Collects, stores and presents KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) from RAD devices, fast and efficient!
• Accelerates the processing of new report definition • Immediate detection of service degradation allows service providers to take remedial actions to
quickly restore appropriate performance levels• Easily evaluate actual performance over time and compare it to SLA guarantees based on Y.1731
– Two-way Frame delay (ms) - Latency– Two-way Frame delay variation (ms) - Jitter– Packet Delivery (%) - (100% - Frame Loss ratio )– Availability (%)
• Additional Y.1731 KPIs reports are available
XXX 2010 Slide 16http://www.cbnetworks.fr - [email protected]
Frame delay, Frame delay variation
• Two-way Frame delay (ms) – Latency– Network Latency is the roundtrip time it takes for a packet to travel end-to-
end between two customer sites– Network Latency is measured in milliseconds and usually averaged on a
monthly basis• Frame Delay Variation (ms) - Jitter
– Jitter measures the average latency from packet-to-packet– Jitter is measured roundtrip in milliseconds and usually averaged on a
monthly basis
Frame Delay (ms) - LatencyFrame Delay Variation (ms) - Jitter
XXX 2010 Slide 17http://www.cbnetworks.fr - [email protected]
Packet Delivery/Frame Loss
• Packet Delivery (%) - (100% - Frame Loss ratio )– Packet Delivery is the percentage of packets delivered during
transmission between two customer sites– Packet Delivery is expressed as a ratio of delivered packets to
total packets passed and usually averaged on a monthly basis
Packet Delivery (%)
XXX 2010 Slide 18http://www.cbnetworks.fr - [email protected]
Availability
• Availability (%) – Availability is the ability to transmit data over the Ethernet
network– Availability is calculated by dividing the average number of
minutes that the Services are available by the total number of minutes in each calendar month and multiplying by 100
Availability (%)
XXX 2010 Slide 19http://www.cbnetworks.fr - [email protected]
Collection and Scalability
• RADview-Collector* initiates an SNMP command to the NTUs to push the performance counter data every round hour or 15 minutes via TFTP
• The collector is responsible for the retrieval of lost data resulting from connection failure upon re-establishing the connection up to 24 hours back
• Performance counters are being compressed to minimize management traffic over the network
• Date is stored in an Oracle database and later on can be exported to CSV ASCII files or by API for OSS post processing systems
• Can manage up to 1000 nodes per server**

International Technical Seminar May 2011 Slide 22http://www.cbnetworks.fr - [email protected]
●Based on RADview-EMS/<Win&Unix>Pack1/R backup and restore tool●Backup file can be saved anywhere ●Restore from backed-up files – RPO can be very long
Business-Continuity Options
●Geographically separated NMS servers that are replicated constantly●RPO and RTO are short●Manual switchover
Disaster Recovery (DR) 1+1Disaster Recovery (DR) 1+1
●Local clustering - RPO and RTO are short●Immediate recovery in the event of OS or HW failure in a single site ●Automatic failover
