    1.0) JAMBOREE INFORMATION

    a.)The Jamboree What?Wonderful plans and eco-friendly programs are underway to present the

    Jamboree participants the most memorial moment and life time opportunity!

    b.)The Jamboree Who?The Scouts aged 12 to 17 years old from all over the world who are

    interested in sharing different cultures, experiencing the world, making

    friends, caring the environment, and enjoying the Jamboree.

    c.)The Jamboree When?It will be held from 4th to 9th August 2010.

    d.)The Jamboree Where?At Suncheon, Jeonnam, Korea!!

    e.)The Jamboree - Theme[Warak] : Scout! Embrace the earth.

    Meaning ofWarak is an action you hug something or someone with all your

    strength. During this Jamboree, the participants will learn and experience

    how to hug and care the earth.

    4.0) INTERNATIONAL SERVICE TEAM (IST)a.)Welcome!

    Welcome to the 3rd International Patrol Jamboree & 27th APR ScoutJamboree International Service Team! You are joining from across the globe

    to make the Jamboree happen. The IST is vital to the Jamboree as you workin each and every area to make sure everything goes smoothly fromprogramme to services and infrastructure. Between us well give over 5,000young people the experience of a lifetime. We would like to thank you for

    giving us your time and wish you all the best during the Jamboree. Thishandbook is here to give you all the information you need to make the mostof this extraordinary event.

    b.)The IST Board TeamThe IST Board Team will be the one who in charge to manage and delegateall the IST until the end Jamboree. The IST Board Team structure as

    c.)The Role of IST ManagerThe IST Board Team has IST Manager which divided into 3 division which

    they are:

    i. Management Division(MD) Mohd Hafiz Ariffinii. Program Division(PD) - Benz Tantivisitkuliii. Communication Division(CD) - Ari Wijanarko AdipratomoManagement Division (MD)

    MD will responsible on management and administration matter in the IST

    Board Team. Anything regarding management and administration of the IST

    during the jamboree can refer to Mr. Mohd Hafiz Ariffin.

    Program Division (PD)

    PD will responsible on daily schedule of Jamboree activity and daily tasks for

    Jamboree IST. Anything programs/activities of the Jamboree for IST during

    the jamboree can refer to Benz Tantivisitkul.

    Communication Division (CD)

    CD will responsible to take care of whole IST welfare and also maintaining

    the communication between IST and Jamboree Head Committee. All the

    Jamboree announcement and update for IST will be made by this division.

    Anything regarding welfare & communication of the IST during the jamboree

    can refer to Ari Wijanarko Adipratomo.

    5.0) IST DO & DONTa.)DONT

    SMOKING and ALCOHOL are prohoited during the Jamboree. Don't over-do it and make yourself into a time bomb. If you are hot, tired,

    hungry and thirsty get cool, rested, fed, and hydrated. I tend to be cranky if Idon't look after myself. Years of observation prove that many of my fellow leadersmay share the same problem.

    Never berate, criticize, argue with or yell at a staff member, youth leader orfellow adult leader in the presence of scouts; no matter how much you think theydeserve it. A quiet talk at an appropriate distance will usually solve the problem

    (and the problem may turn out to be yours).

    Don't "pull rank". You are a International Service Team, not a general or anadmiral, so there really isn't any rank to pull is there? Most people instantlyrespect your position- just don't make a big deal out of it. Don't ask for specialprivileges or try to impress staff members with your self importance.

    If you see a participant really bad at an activity, encourage them. Don't make funof them. I know it may be tempting to do, but don't do it. Because if you do, youmay have an upset participant on your hands, and that's never fun to deal with.

    Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you're in a difficult situation, don't be afraidto contact your communication department.

    Have patience! These kids aren't stupid. They know that if they want something,all they have to do is keep annoying you until they get it. Most of the time, thefirst time you tell a kid to do something, odds are they won't do it. Don't get madat them though. Remember that they're a lot younger than you. Ask them again.

    Try not to raise your voice too much.

    Don't raise your voice. Only do this in an emergency. This may scare yourcampers, or if you do this a lot they may just ignore it.

    Campers hear everything, and I mean everything. So if you want to tell yourfriend something, first think about if you want a little kid to hear it. The bad partabout kids hearing what you say is that they never remember it accurately.

    They'll tell their parents and often exaggerate what you said (which usually has a

    negative effect) .

    Leave all negativity at home! If you come in to camp with a bad mood, this willhurt your campers' days. Even if you had a horrible night, come in with a smile. Ifyou feel you might feel below par, talk to your division head or a superior prior tocamp.

    Respect your participants and colleague and they'll respect you. They'll behavebetter if you respect them. Just because you're in charge doesn't mean you can

    yell at them and boss them around.

    b.)DO Join in the program and encourage the participants to do so: even if the program,

    in your humble opinion, isn't all that good. A lively audience does more than

    anything to enliven and energize a performer. Do participate. Participation is key.The more you participate, the friendlier you become with the participants. Even ifit means running around a playground, do it. If they ask you to join in, you

    should join in. Don't think about how stupid you'll look. Do it for the kids, and notfor yourself.

    Participate in ceremonies, traditions and practices of the camp even if they areunfamiliar to you. Camps and camp staffs are proud of their traditions; imposingyour way of doing things on their program is a rude as imposing your way ofdoing things in someone else's home.

    Carefully monitor any inter-troop rivalries that may develop. Scout aged boys arehyper-competitive and often need to be reminded about fairness, courtesy andsportsmanship. Set the tone of gentlemanly competition and require it of yourscouts.

    Give your youth leaders allthe responsibility for success. See that theyunderstand what needs to be done, how and why and then observe from a greatdistance. Check in with them every evening, ask lots of questions and put youroar in only when it is asked or it is matter of safety.

    Be proud of your scouts, encourage them, congratulate them, admire them. Don'ttry to be one of them, you aren't and never will be. When the rare opportunity to

    join in at the boy level presents itself jump in, but don't interfere with their fun.

    Be as patient with your own shortcomings as those of your scouts. Don't sacrificethe perfectly good on the altar of perfection.

    6.0) IST WELFAREa.)Meal Time

    The meal will be prepared 3 times per day which they are Breakfast, Lunch andDinner and the meal time as follows:

    i. Breakfast - 6.30 am 8.30 amii. Lunch - 11.30 pm 1.00 pmiii. Dinner - 5.30 pm 7.30 pmYou are responsible to make sure to clean your dining table and wash your plateafter you had meal.

    b.)AccommodationAll the IST will be staying in the tent. Tent will be provided during the Jamboree.

    c.)Resting, sleeping and over exertionWorking as a member of the IST is a very intense experience. At times you will

    work hard and many people will be involved in physically demanding tasks. Whenyou are not working there is lots to keep you occupied. It is important that youremember you will be living in this environment for a long time and tiredness canreally spoil the experience. It is vital that you get enough sleep and allow othersto as well. Whilst you may last a few days without enough sleep, eventually it willcatch up with you. It is also important for your safety and everyone elses thatyou are not too tired when you are working.

    d.)Shift patterns and irregular working hoursMany IST members are working irregular hours. Many are working overnight, sosome people may be going to sleep when you are getting up. Please respect this

    and avoid making excessive noise. Show consideration to those who need to rest.

    e.)Who is here to help?If you have a problem, there is Communication Division who can help.

    f.) The Communication DivisionThe Communication Division will be responsible to hear your voice which & take

    care of your welfare along the Jamboree. You can contact Mr. Ari WijanarkoAdipratomo as the head person in The Communication Team

    7.0) THE JAMBOREE ACTIVITYA. APR Village

    Is the This APR Village is where we can share cultures, tradition, and beautyof each NSO participating in the Jamboree. All the participating NSOs will

    have their own booth. It will be an opportunity to learn other cultures in the

    world and introduce your own countrys specialness. In this village there are

    10 different activities which are:

    - BP History- BP Cafe- Scout Photo- Jamboree World Cup- APR Display- World Jamboree Display- BP Games- APIJ (APR Internet Jamboree)- Ji Haw Ja- Handcraft workshop

    B. Hwarang AwardHwarang Award is an award for the participants to achieve during the

    Jamboree. This Award offers 22 activity that need to be completed which its

    based on scouting skills and scout patrol activity.

    C. Special EventsDuring the Jamboree, there will be special events and mostly those events

    will be organize at night. There are several special events for example :
