A Message from the Coordinator:

Welcome to this Semester’s Activity Program at ISB Elementary School.

ISB’s ES Explore Program brings students and adults together for a series of nine (9) co-

curricular activities sessions that are wonderful learning experiences that are also fun.

ISB’s ES Explore program is designed to give our students an opportunity to explore and

develop new interests.

The Registration Fee for each activity is 2,500 baht/Semester. The only exception are

Taekwondo with a fee of 4,700 baht/Semester and Friday’s activities (only 8 sessions) with a

fee of 2,200 baht/semester.

We encourage Pre-K and Kindergarten children to participate in after school activities. To

help ensure the safety of our youngest students, we ask parents to make arrangements to have

their child escorted from the classroom to any Activity they enroll in. The escort may be a

parent, maid, driver or sibling. The Pre-K or K child’s teacher should be informed of the

escort arrangements.

Activities will begin the week of Monday, September 18th

.

ALL Pre-K Activities run from 1:20 p.m. – 2:20 p.m.

K – Gr. 5 Activities run from 2:35 p.m. – 3:35 p.m. On Early Dismissal Tuesdays please

note that activities will run one hour earlier from 1:25- 2:25. For ES transport students, Montri Transportation Company will provide bus/van services at

3:50 p.m.( on Tuesdays bus will leave at 3:30). As the Activities Lists are finalized, the ES

Activities Office will forward a listing of those children taking Activities to ISB’s Montri

Office. Montri will then issue modified bus passes. If your child will not be riding their

bus on a given Activity day as scheduled, please inform Montri. For more information,

please contact the Transportation Office

ES AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

Please register online, print your form and along with your payment in exact

cash or check for the total amount of your First Choice Activities. Please

submit your money and forms in the RED BOX at the Community Activities

Office on September 4th

, 5th

and 6th

between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Make checks payable to International School Association. To help ensure

payment credit, please write your child’s name at the bottom of your check.

The Registration Fee for each activity is 2,500 baht. The only exceptions are

Tae Kwon Do, which meets twice a week and has a fee of 5,000 baht/semester

and Friday’s activities that will have only 8 sessions, fee of 2,200 baht/semester.

If at all possible, for each day you register; please list a First and Second

Choice selection for your child. If any of your child’s First Choices are

oversubscribed, this will greatly assist us in placement.

It is important that you meet the “on time” deadline September 6th

.

Registration forms submitted after September 6th

will be processed only for

activities that have not reached the maximum enrollment.

For many of our activities, the number of participants is limited. In order to be

as fair as we can to all our students who wish to participate in the After School

Activities, the following procedures have been established. If more students

apply for an activity than there is room for, the procedure for selecting students

for the activity will be:

1) Upon the close of registration the ASA coordinator will go through the list

of students applying for each activity.

2) If the number of applicants exceeds the listed maximum enrollment for an

activity, the coordinator will then randomly draw names from the list. (For

second semester, consideration will be given to students who are applying

for an activity that was unsuccessfully granted in semester one.)

3) If a child is not placed in their 1st Choice he/she will be placed in their listed

2nd

choice activity for that day providing that the activity has not reached

maximum enrollment. If the replacement activity is also full, you will be

contacted to make another choice.


4) If an Activity has not reached the minimum enrollment of ten/twelve (10/12)

during the initial phases of Registration, it will be cancelled. You will be

contacted and your child will be offered the opportunity to register for

another Activity.

5) If you are not contacted, you may assume that your child has been placed in

either his 1st or 2

nd choice activity for each day. No news is good news!

Your child’s Activity Schedule and conformation of placement will be available

online on your child’s powerschool page on Friday, September 15th

.

Despite our best efforts, the match between Activities and children may not

always work out like we hope. If your child needs to withdraw from an Activity,

please contact the ES ASA Coordinator directly. This must be done before the

ASA schedule has started.

There is a NO REFUND policy for ASA. If your child wishes to switch ASA

choice we would ask that this be done prior to the 3rd

ASA session. However,

exception may be made at desiccation with the ES ASA coordinator.

NOTE: ES Explore does not encourage parent observation unless invited

specifically by the instructor.

Batik Learn how to make colorful designed fabric using Batik techniques. Use

Chess and Stamp Collecting is for children who want to learn to play chess, and

start developing a stamp collection - a hobby that can last a lifetime. Mr. Brown,

an avid stamp collector, puts together special stamp collections in a stamp

notebook designed for each child. At the beginning of each meeting, children


have the opportunity to purchase additional stamps from Mr. Brown to add to

their growing collection before engaging in their weekly chess games.

Activity: Inventor Workshop

Come explore your inner inventor with an all new makerspace class in the high

school Invention Center. This class combines common art construction materials

such as tape, cardboard and recyclables with the amazing electronics and

sensors of Little Bits. Build a robot that waves, a pressure activated alarm

system or whatever else your imagination can come up with.

Special Note: Classes are held twice a week at a coast of 5000 Baht/semester.

Activity: Tournament of Minds Grades: 3 - 5


Instructor: Nat Whitman

Please note that this activity will run from November 2nd until March 8th and not

like the rest of the ASA.

Tournament of Minds (TOM) is a creative problem-solving competition for teams

of students from the Elementary School. It is an opportunity for students with

a passion for learning and problem solving to demonstrate their skills and

talents in an exciting, vibrant and public way. Teams will work together to solve

a challenging problem and will compete against teams from other schools at the

Bangkok Tournament on 8th March.

Introductory and practice sessions will start on Wednesdays after the October

break. Teams will be finalized at the beginning of December so they are ready

to start work on the competition challenge after the winter break.

Please note: students will be expected to commit to this activity from the

October break to the beginning of March.

Activity: Yoga for Kids

Grades: 1 - 5


Instructor: Tali Benzvi

Yoga is a wonderful way for kids to get connected with their bodies. Yoga

stretches kids' bodies and minds, and boosts their confidence. It can help bring

active minds into union with active bodies, and can help kids learn to calm both.

Kids feel empowered by their ability to learn new poses, stretch into new

positions, and stabilize their minds in a non-competitive environment.

Yoga can build stronger bodies and make kids more limber. It can teach kids new

ways to relax and calm themselves when they feel stressed (which they often

do in today's world.)

With Tali's Yoga, kids can have fun, stretch their imaginations, play and have an

Activity: Zumba® Kids Grades: K -5


Instructor: Ynna Millana

Perfect for boys & girls in Grades K - 5. This program offers the children the

chance to be active and “jam” to music. Aside from not requiring any previous

dance training, Zumba Kids is also designed to appeal to children who are not

attracted to traditional physical activities and team sports. Classes incorporate

enjoyable activities that also promote childhood development elements like

respect, leadership and teamwork, confidence, creativity and cultural

awareness.
