19 May 2017 Spring Quarter Week 5 HILL HOUSE INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR SCHOOL Important dates: On Tuesday, S6 became proud parents as four butterflies were born. The children really enjoyed watching this process and have released the butterflies at Battersea Park. See photos attached. The transition from Small School to Lower School is underway and going very well, with the weekly visits from Miss De Giorgi as well as the Assembly visits. We also appreciate your help and support by allowing the children to be independent and only coming in if you need to speak to a teacher. Please remember to sign up with your child’s class teacher for your summative meeting about their progress and learning journeys, which will take place after Half Term. Holiday Diaries have been sent home for you and your child to complete over Half Term. We will not be sending any spelling or reading books home on 26 May. This past Wednesday Carl from ‘Perform’ came to visit Small School. The children were transported to the Wild Wild West where they had a fantastic time singing around a campfire, roasting marshmallows, dancing to music and pretending to be Cowboys and Indians. Please see photos attached. S3 and S6 had a very enjoyable visit to Assembly on Wednesday. They were very interested in the Brass Showcase delivered by the boys and girls in Main School and discussed playing an instrument when they get older. We have joined up with ‘Chelsea in Bloom’ and have contributed two hanging baskets. Miss Jarvis and the children have spent this week planting them up and they will now be hanging; one at the end of Flood Street and the other nearer to Cadogan Gardens. The children will be able to point them out to you. Please see pictures attached. The Small School Photo is on display at the front entrance. Each child has an envelope in their folder from the School Photography Company explaining how to order a copy. (Please note that orders are made through the company directly and not via school.) To celebrate Mufti Day on Friday 26 May the children are invited to come to school in home clothes or in fancy dress costume in return for a donation to charity. Have a pleasant and safe weekend.
