Maureen Bisognano is President and Chief Executive Offi cer of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), an independent not-for-profi t organization helping to lead the improvement of health care throughout the world. Previously, Maureen served as IHI’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Offi cer, leading IHI along with former President and CEO Dr. Donald Berwick for 15 years.
She is a prominent authority on improving health care systems, whose expertise has been recognized by her elected membership to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and by her appointment to the Commonwealth Fund’s Commission on a High Performance Health System, among other distinctions. Ms. Bisognano advises health care leaders around the world, is a frequent speaker at major health care conferences on quality improvement, and is a tireless advocate for change. She is also an Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, a Research Associate in the Division of Social Medicine and Health Inequalities at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and serves on the Boards of the Commonwealth Fund, the ThedaCare Center for Healthcare Value, and Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire.

Thomas James Mehrmann Chief Executive of the Ocean Park Corporation
Mr. Thomas James Mehrmann is the Chief Executive of the Ocean Park Corporation. He began his tenure with Ocean Park in 2004. Mr. Mehrmann started his career in the theme park industry in 1977 as a park attendant at Knott’s Berry Farm, working his way up to the position of Vice President of Park Operations and Entertainment in 1996. Prior to coming to Hong Kong, he joined Six Flags Marine World as Vice President and General Manager in 1998, and was appointed VP and GM of Warner Bros. Movie World (Madrid) in 2000.
Marc Andrew Koska OBEInventor of the K1 auto-disable syringe & Founder of SafePoint
Marc Koska OBE is a highly regarded advocate around the world for needle safety in both immunisation and therapeutic sectors. His mission in life is the mandatory use of auto-disable syringes globally, to reduce cross-infection through dirty needles and needle-stick injuries, the world’s ninth biggest killer annually. Marc has spent nearly twenty years promoting the use of any Auto-Disable device and persuading the global health community of the enormous benefi ts of a switch in terms of lives saved – over a million and a half every year – and healthcare costs saved – over half a billion dollars annually. private hospitals. More recently Marc and the SafePoint Trust have catapulted safe injections to the top of the international health agenda, as on 23 February 2015, Margaret Chan, DG WHO announced a new global policy on injection safety.
Angelo Umali Co-founder and CEO, Simple Wearables
Angelo Umali is a technical and business strategist with a decade of broad international experience in marketing, business development and product management for both hardware and software products. He founded Simple Wearables, a healthcare tech startup based in Hong Kong focusing on wearable technology that provides peace of mind. Prior to that, he worked at Agilent Technologies based in Silicon Valley for 5 years, before moving to Hong Kong as the APAC Marketing Manager for Agilent Technologies. His lifetime hobbies are photography and fi tness - he has over 140k followers on Instagram and teaches spinning classes at Pure Fitness in Hong Kong. Angelo has a MSEE from Stanford University and BSEE from UCLA.

Hai Chao LeiDeputy Director-General, Beijing Health and Family Planning Commission
Hai Chao Lei is a deputy director-general of the Beijing Health & Family Planning Commission. He is also the supervisor for post-graduates on health policy and management at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and the Capital Medical University of China. Mr Lei has been actively engaged in national health system reform. His contribution to the system reforms covered the areas of health-service delivery, national essential-medicine policy, design of fi nancing schemes and regulation mechanisms. Mr Lei is a member of the WHO scientifi c steering committee for human resources for health and a member of the advisory committee for health research in the WHO west-Pacifi c region. He is also the chair of the Asia Evidence-Informed Policy Network for the term 2009–11.
Professor Sir Bruce KeoghNational Medical Director, NHS England
Professor Sir Bruce Keogh is NHS England’s Medical Director. During the transition to new NHS structures, he has continued in his role as Medical Director of the National Health Service in England, responsible for clinical quality, policy and strategy and postgraduate education of doctors, dentists, pharmacists and clinical scientists. Formerly, Sir Bruce had a distinguished career in surgery. He was President of the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland, Secretary-General of the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, International Director of the US Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and President of the Cardiothoracic Section of the Royal Society of Medicine. He has served as a Commissioner on the Commission for Health Improvement (CHI) and the Healthcare Commission. He was knighted for services to medicine in 2003.
Derek Feeley, DBAExecutive Vice President, Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI)
Derek Feeley, DBA, Executive Vice President, Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), has executive-level responsibility for driving IHI’s strategy across fi ve core focus areas: Improvement Capability; Person- and Family-Centered Care; Patient Safety; Quality, Cost, and Value; and Triple Aim for Populations. His role is international in scope, guiding work to deliver on IHI’s mission to improve health and health care around the world. Prior to joining IHI in 2013, Mr. Feeley was Director General for Health and Social Care and Chief Executive of the National Health Service (NHS) in Scotland. In this role he was the principal adviser to Scottish Ministers on health and care issues and he provided direction to the work of NHS Boards in ensuring the delivery of high-quality health care.

Donald is also former Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. A pediatrician by background, Dr. Berwick has served on the faculty of the Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health, and on the staffs of Boston’s Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He has also served as Vice Chair of the US Preventive Services Task Force, the fi rst “Independent Member” of the American Hospital Association Board of Trustees, and Chair of the National Advisory Council of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. He served two terms on the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM’s) Governing Council, was a member of the IOM’s Global Health Board, and served on President Clinton’s Advisory Commission on Consumer Protection and Quality in the Healthcare Industry.
Recognized as a leading authority on health care quality and improvement, Dr. Berwick has received numerous awards for his contributions. In 2005, he was appointed “Honorary Knight Commander of the British Empires by the Queen of England in recognition of his work with the British National Health Service. Dr. Berwick is the author or co-author of over 160 scientifi c articles and fi ve books. He also serves as Lecturer in the Department of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School.

This programme will provide a platform for students from medicine, nursing and pharmacy to explore safety and quality issues in healthcare. This one-day workshop will be interactive, inter-professional experiential learning, with short presentations, role plays and discussion. Led by one of the eminent figures in quality improvement, our Student Day will be engaging, practical and will provide insights from the best quality and safety improvement projects from around the world.

Learn about Three Key Operational Objectives at Ocean Park - SAFETY, SERVICE and SHOW - participate in a Tour and meet the Line Leadership. Improvement Capability
This interactive full-day workshop will introduce the fundamentals of patient-centered Quality Improvement (QI) in healthcare and is designed for beginners to form a basic understanding of tools typically used in QI projects. Topics include methods of improvement, features of effective teams, use of right data for measurement and diagnostic tools to target the right interventions.
At the center of quality improvement and patient safety is a strong foundation of improvement science. Develop your improvement capability by learning how to set clear and specific aims, define a measurement system to understand results, develop change ideas for testing, and use the plan-do-study-act cycle to test ideas, build knowledge, and achieve breakthrough results.
