The Festival inspired people to put on shows of their own right from the start, and these grew into the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The Edinburgh International Festival is a specialised festival - all artists and companies appear in the Festival at the invitation of the Festival Director.

As a International Festival, our expenses include artists' fees and travel, hiring venues and paying the technical costs involved in staging events.

The festival brings artists to the 2012 Festival by making a donation today.

This festival is funded by who ever makes donations.
