INTERNATIONAL DECK WATCHKEEPING OFFICER AND CAPTAIN 3000 (OCQPI) THE DECK WATCHKEEPING OFFICERS AND CAPTAIN 3000 ARE MERCHANT NAVY OFFICERS. THEY OPERATE THE SHIP AT SEA, ENSURE THE SHIP AND NAVIGATION SAFETY, LEAD LOADING AND UNLOADING OPERATIONS AND MANAGE A CREW. This three-year initial training at an international level leads to graduation and then after statutory internships on board, to the deck watchkeeping officer and captain 3000 certificates. The captain 3000 can operate ships up to 3000 net tonnage at a management level. The deck watchkeeping officer works as a deck officer on vessels of all sizes and reports to the Master. These officers work on non-military ships, under all flags, on all the oceans worldwide, with international crews To meet the international labour market, the students can choose a specialisation : either cruise/yachting or offshore/oil/gas. Almost 60% of the third year lectures are delivered in English. In first year, a week experience on a sailing boat contributes to the development of seamanship. This familiarisation is carried out in English. SELECTION A panel made of lecturers selects the candidates on records.
