IBDP Overview

IB is a not-for-profit foundation created by teachers at the International School of Geneva, Switzerland. Founded in 1968, IB is celebrating its 52nd Anniversary.

Grade 9 and 10 accelerated and preparatory programme prepares students for the Diploma Programme (Grades 11 and 12)

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

Course work - students express how TOK manifests in the world around us (TOK exhibition and 1,600 word paper)

Extended Essay (EE)

Self-directed undergraduate-level research; inspired by IB courses (3000 - 4000 word paper)

Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)

Volunteer participation in activities alongside academic studies

Out of Area Students and Transportaion

Out-of-area families are responsible for their own transportation.

Out-of-area students are expected to complete the IBDP, if they do not, they may be supported to attend their designated “home” TVDSB school.

Grade 9 – Sept. $300

Grade 10 – Sept. $300 and Feb. $475

Grade 11 – Sept. $475 and Feb $475

Application Process

Applications are reviewed by a committee and scored base upon: Reference letter

Written response by student

Copy of Final Grade 7 Report Card (for grade 9 applicant)

Copy of First Grade 8 Report Card (for grade 9 applicant)

Possible late entry points (Entering grades 10 and 11) Students may apply after grade 8 however preferences will be given to

existing Oakridge preparatory IB students and ALL academic requirements must be met (e.g. acceleration of mathematics)
