2019 Theme“Healthy Employees … A Healthy Business

Investment… A Healthy Nation”Increasingly, business leaders are recognizing that success is determined as much by the overall health of the organization as it is by profit and productivity. A healthy organization is one that creates a culture that supports employees need for mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and social well-being, and is regarded by employees as great or exceptional. The coming years will have a dramatic impact on what wellness means to individuals, businesses, social programs, communities, and government entities. More people worldwide aspire to live longer, healthier lives, finding ways to tap into all dimensions of wellness will become increasingly important for individuals of all ages.

Attending the 5th International Annual Corporate Wellness Conference & Trade Fair will allow individuals who have specific responsibility for organizational health and are seeking to strengthen their workplace culture by addressing issues and challenges that undermine effective business practices to have an integral role in reshaping the wellness landscape by creating a sustainable culture of wellness in their workplaces, communities, and in their own lives. At the 2019 conference, leading experts in coaching, worksite wellness, integrative health, education, community wellness, physical fitness, mind-body therapies, and related disciplines will share their visions for the future of wellness and health promotion based on best practices and current research.

The only organization focused on health, wellness, disease prevention and management for employers and their employees, brings you the premier event in employee wellness. The Corporate Wellness Conference & Trade Fair is the only employer conference in Kenya and East Africa focused on wellness in the workplace.

As such, employers have a unique opportunity to better understand and influence the health and wellbeing of their staff.Given the above, "it's no surprise that workplace wellness initiatives are on a rapid rise"

There is ample evidence suggesting that good employee health and wellbeing leads to increased performance, productivity, and boosts organisational health.

According to research65% of workers report moderate to high stress levels, 41% has levels of work-related psychological distress. The healthiest employees are almost three times more productive than their unhealthy colleagues.

Put simply: healthy workers = healthy organisations = healthy business performance (Comcare)

WHY WELLNESS – Why the time is rightIncreasing cost of healthcare – treatment costs, premium costs, employee cost sharing.

Increase in preventable chronic conditions.

Rise in healthcare consumerism.

Chronic diseases are non-communicable illnesses that are prolonged in duration, do not resolve spontaneously, and are rarely cured completely.

Some Statistics:

More than 75% of health care costs are due to preventable chronic conditions.

80% of heart disease and stroke are preventable.

40% of cancer is preventable

66% of Kenyan employees are overweight

13% of employees are at risk for diabetes

Bottom Line – Now is the Time for Wellness Programs

They can help reduce claims costs and risk. Employers can’t afford not to be managing this. Employees are starting to understand the connection between their lifestyle choices and their healthcare costs.
