Board of Studies Meet has conducted by Dean & Controller of Examinations on 05 th

January 2019 at Commerce Smart Class Room.

Pongal Celebrations has celebrated by our college staffs and Students on 11 th January

2019 at college ground. Foreigners from Dhan foundation also celebrated Pongal

Celebrations with our college students and staff. Traditional things, Jallikattu, Goat, and

Cock are displayed for show.

Department Activities Department of History

Epigraphy

A two-day workshop on Epigraphy was conducted by the Department of History on 22nd and 23rd

January 2019. Dr. V. Vedachalam, Epigraphist, Tamil Nadu State Department of Archaeology,

trained the students to read and write the ancient scripts Brahmi, Grantham and Vatelluthu. The

workshop enabled students to read the 2000 year old Tamil inscriptions. The students were also

trained in the art of making estampages.

Wild Life Tourism

On 25.01.2019, a guest lecture on ‘Wildlife Tourism was organized by Department of History.

“Opportunities, Benefits and Conflicts’ was delivered by Sri N. Ravindran, avid birdwatcher, wildlife

photographer, Founder and President of Iragukal, a Trust for Nature Conservation Department of Commerce

Emerging Issue in Business Management

A National Seminar on “Emerging Issues in Business and Management” was organized and released

the research papers in the form of edited book with ISBN serial number by the Post Graduate and

Research Department of Commerce, Vivekananda College, Tiruvedakam West, on 23rd January, 2019,

Wednesday. This seminar was inaugurated by Dr.R.Vanniyarajan, Former Principal of Vivekananda

College. Dr.M.Selvam, Dean and Head, Department of Financial Studies, Sri. Suryanarayanan, CEO,

Sri. Girish Marketing Karaikudi, Dr. Sivamurugan, Assistant Professor of Commerce, St, Claret

College, Bangalore, Dr. RM. Chidambaram, Former Dean of Management Studies, Alagappa

University, Karaikudi were the resource Persons. Dr. O. Ravi, Controller of Examinations, Madurai

Kamaraj University, Madurai delivered the Valedictory Address.

On 22.01.2019, we organized the state level seminar on “Vedic Mathematics” at our college premises.

Dr.R.Vanniyarajan, Former Principal, Vivekananda College felicitated the programme. The resource

persons were Sri. C. Mayilvahanan, Principal, UCCK Matric Hr. Sec. School, Chennai, Sri. K. Vinoba,

State Education Coordinator, Seva Bharati, Tamilnadu, Prof. R.Jayabalan, Former Vice Principal &

Head of the Department of Mathematics, Vivekananda College and Sri. M.Nagaraj, Assistant

Professor, Department of Mathematics, Vivekananda College. Around 90 students from 13 various

colleges participated.

Lecture Programme at AV Hall. Sris.B.Subashini, Assistant Professor, K.L.N College of Engineering,

Village Adoption Programme

A unique feature of the college is Village Adoption Programme (VAP). The college has adopted six

villages in and around Sholavandan and run eight centres and a selected group of 35 motivated and

trained students go to the respective adopted centres every Friday.

Republic Day Celebration on MKU

REPUBLIC DAY was celebrated by our NCC cadets on 26.01.2019 at our college premises, NCC

cadets presented a March past and guard of honour to our national flag, Swami Vedananda was the

chief guest, hoisted the national flag and took the salute, delivered Republic day address. Also our

NCC cadets presented March past and guard of honour to Dr.M.Krishnan, Vice Chancellor of Madurai

Kamaraj University at MKU campus on the same day.
